At the end of 2024 I weighed 230 pounds. I wasn’t as strong as I wanted to be for my family, so I signed up for a half marathon. That decision changed everything.

Since then I’ve run multiple half marathons, a full marathon, paced 35 miles of a 100 mile ultra, and finished my own ultra marathon.

Now I’m training for the New Bedford Half Marathon on March 15th. Last year I finished in 1:54. This year I’m working to beat that time.

This block has been tough. Four straight weeks of freezing Northeast mornings. Snow that hasn’t melted since January. Early miles in the dark before work.

I’m averaging 40 miles a week. Long runs between 13 and 15 miles. Track workouts. Threshold runs. A lot of slow miles to build a real base.

Grateful someone snow-blowed the local track so I didn’t have to sprint on a treadmill.

Race day is coming.
