Do you know that feeling when you see a breathtaking scenic view that is not just a windows wallpaper but a view that you are experiencing for real? That was my feeling when I walked for about 25min in a steaming hot sun.
CABO ROJO, it was surreal! It was one of the best views of Puerto Rico.
Known as the "Village of Cofresí," the name that alludes to the famous Puerto Rican pirate. Cabo Rojo is located in the southwest corner of Puerto Rico, about three hours from San Juan.
Among the many spectacular attractions of Cabo Rojo is the Los Morrillos Lighthouse, an elegant neoclassical building with green windows surrounded by impressive cliffs and a panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea. Constructed in 1882, this working lighthouse was the third built by Spaniards on the Island.
There are a variety of other natural wonders scattered around nearby as well, including a natural bridge, salt flats (which have been a site for salt production since 1511), and panoramic views of salt mountains. Just make sure to take sunscreen and plenty of water, well snacks too maybe!
Though people commonly say photograph cannot do justice to what you see with your eye, Hey! there are apps that can make it happen you know! But one thing that even the enhanced/extraordinarily edited photograph cannot give is the experience of being present there!
How to go to this place?
Plan a 5-6days trip to Puerto Rico and rent a car (you’ll need it) and plan a day for west of puerto rico which would be approximately 3hr scenic drive from San Juan (best place to stay). I said a day because you need to give time to sync in these beautiful views. What about the rest 5 days? Watch out this space for that!
