Two years ago my family and I quietly moved from Atlanta to Orlando. I’ve wanted to share this for a while, but I wasn’t ready. Like many in film and TV, I held onto hope I’d return to set full-time. Being a 2nd AC wasn’t just a job, it was part of my identity. The last few years brought uncertainty, job changes outside the industry, and a lot of questioning who I was without set life. I still miss it sometimes, the people, the chaos, and hearing “Picture’s up!” before grabbing my slate. But I also realized I needed stability for my family. I wanted my boys to see consistency, responsibility, and presence. And honestly, a predictable paycheck every two weeks and benefits you can actually understand are pretty nice too, PTO and health insurance hit different when you have kids.
Our move to Florida was driven by family, being closer to the people who’ve always supported us has been one of our greatest blessings. This season also deepened my faith. I stopped trying to force doors open and gave it to Jesus. Not because I had answers, but because I didn’t need to control everything. I just wanted to be a better husband, father, and leader for my family.
A few months ago I got a call about a job I’d almost forgotten applying for. After four interviews and a lot of prayer, I was offered the role.
Today I’m grateful to serve as the first Internal Photographer at ThreatLocker. It’s been a blessing for my family and I’ve found real peace in this season.
To my wife Rhonda, thank you for carrying so much when things were uncertain. To our family and friends, thank you for your love and support. To my film family, you are more than your title or call sheet position, your creativity and resilience travel with you.
Keep moving forward. Keep trusting the process.
