People always ask what my favourite type of photography is and in the past I thought I had to choose so I did. But if you ask me today, I think my favourite is not so much the photography but having people around me who understand how my eye and mind works. This is especially important with kids because alllll notion of control I think I have as a photographer goes out the window.
So yeah, I don’t have a favorite but I’m forever chasing that ideal experience

There is no perfect family photo. There is rarely one that can distill the range of emotions we feel during every single second of every day as humans and as humans with kids. I think the choice to be a family photographer who is okay with making space to let those feelings happen was only made with the experience knowing that if I chase perfection, I would never be able to do this. I still don’t think I can some days and those are the ones where I love the photos the most 😊

Newborn photos at 1 month are a little different from when the babies are a week or two old. Parents are still sleepy sleepy but there is a lot more comfort and confidence with the routine (before it all changes again). I especially love how many more facial expressions a 1 or 2 month old baby has. If you think you’d like to wait a bit to have newborn photos, I say do it! We make the timing right.

To be trusted with memory keeping is one of the most humbling experiences. I try not to make a big deal about it but I feel very deeply for every family I get a chance to photograph in that moment. A lot of my work will always stay candid and natural for this reason. It allows you to show up in all that you are without having to perform too much because the only person you truly need to put on a show for is the little baby you have been fortunate enough to grow into this world.
