HELLO FRIENDS!!! It’s been over 3 months since I’ve shown up here, and while it might seem like I’ve already officially retired, I haven’t quite finished my 2022 sessions yet! Knowing this is my last season of photography, my books filled so fast, and I’m over here soaking up these last jobs, shoots, and obligations I have. It’s so bittersweet 🤍 I wanted to share a little bit of what I’ve been capturing (there are SO many more beautiful sessions I’ve shot over the past 3 months, but I could only fit 10 little squares in here!), and share two exciting announcements!

First announcement is my desktop and mobile presets are ON SALE this weekend for Labor Day! 25% off! I use my mobile presets every single day, and my desktop pack is what I use for all my photo shoots (I’ve been loving MS6 lately, and have been upping my saturation, yellow, greens and oranges to bring out these gorgeous summer colors we have in Oregon right now)! The sale starts today and ends Monday! So if you’ve been eyeing my presets, don’t miss getting them at 25% off!

Second announcement is I’ll be teaching at in about a week and I CANNOT WAIT! Rooted has been life changing for me, personally and professionally, and I can’t wait to spend time in Hawaii with our attendees and instructors! It’s going to be absolutely incredible, so even though I’ve stepped away from this account this summer, I definitely plan to hop on again while at this workshop. It’s all too good to not share, and I plan to post all the amazing behind the scenes and photo content I can! Will I see you there?!

As always- love you guys so much, and forever thankful for you! I’ve missed talking with you all on here and sharing my photo life with you behind the scenes, but I really appreciate your continued support as I slow down and switch gears 🤍

Zach & Tori Roloff Share New Family Photos of Baby Son Josiah: 'We're Really Stoked!'

The Little People, Big World stars welcomed son Josiah Luke on April 30

So unbelievably honored to have been asked by and to capture the first family photos of the Roloff family! This is a print article, in Peoples latest issue! I will be buying approximately 50 copies! No shame.

Hi friends! WOW, it's been a minute. In 2020 I deleted my personal Facebook, but was able to keep my photography business page associated with my photography Instagram. Unfortunately, this past January it disconnected, and because I don't have my own FB account, I never knew! I spent hours trying to get this fixed, and I think we're good now :)

If you're not already, be sure to follow my instagram

But in case you don't have IG or you missed all the excitement these past few months, I've officially announced my "retirement" or "leave" as a full time photographer! This season of life with my kids is so precious, and I truly feel like it's time for me to slow down and step back. My books are already closed, and I'll finish out the year with sessions that were already scheduled, but other than that, my website inquiries are turned off and I plan to take at least a few years off.

I can't thank you all enough for SO MUCH SUPPORT these past 7 years. I started photography when I was 6 months pregnant, having no proper training or experience. I started this career when photography wasn't trendy, wasn't cool, and wasn't necessarily considered a successful career.

It's been such an honor to tell your stories, to be able to chase my dreams, travel the world (seriously Europe, Australia, all over the US, Mexico), educate other photographers, be an example for my kids, and help financially support my family. God is so so good and I'm forever grateful for the endless opportunities my camera provided me.

What does that mean for Monique Serra? Well, after almost a decade of hustle, it means, rest. I'm so excited to be home more, to be able to be involved in my kid's school and sports, to support my husband as his business grows, to be a mom and a wife.

I'll continue to share any endeavors that come my way (like, maybe a People Magazine spread coming out TOMORROW), I have presets and guides that will stay live, I won't disappear, and I'm really hoping that the future of Monique Serra Photography is full of more education, mentorships, and helping other aspiring photographers / creatives chase their dreams and pursue a successful career doing what they love.

Again, thank you all for your support. For believing in a 24 year old pregnant young woman chasing after a dream with a cheap old used dslr camera in hand.

With love,
Monique Serra

You know when you wake up at 4am to head to a sunrise shoot and it’s so foggy you have to go back to your hotel and just wait until the weather clears, and then you end up shooting at high noon because your couple has a five hour drive home and work the next morning?

Years ago this situation would’ve genuinely terrified me. The lack of control, shooting any time other than sunset, at a new location, in a different state, with clients I’ve never met… Cue panic attack.

I’m so thankful that Kip and Berlin trusted me and allowed me to push myself for their engagement shoot. I’m at a point in my career where I crave a challenge. It pushes me creatively to step outside my comfort zone and really dive in to the technicalities of my camera and trust myself as a photographer.

This session was a dream come true. A bucket list location with two of the most incredible people I’ve ever met (we already have plans for them to visit me in Oregon!).

We spent hours trekking through the San Luis Obispo San dunes, made our way to the beach, had an outfit change, made the hike back through the sand dunes, and daydreamed all about their 2023 France wedding.

Kip and Berlin will be my last photography job. Photographing their intimate micro wedding in south France next year…. It’s my ultimate bucket list goal as a photographer (a European wedding) and after 7 years in this business, they’re allowing me the honor of making that dream a reality.

At home family sessions are always a yes in my book! Nothing sweeter than capturing your days as honestly as possible!

Happy weirdest week between Christmas and New Years 🤣 any fun plans for NYE? I 10/10 guarantee my husband and I will be sleeping by midnight, but it wasn’t thaaaaat long ago that we would get all dolled up and spend our nights out on the town!
This year we’re having dinner and drinks with family, doing a game night with the kids, then heading to the beach! Our favorite place!

Merry Christmas Eve Eve!!!! Spending today making fudge, decorating sugar cookies with my kids, wrapping presents and most likely pulling an almost all nighter with my husband setting up the dollhouse we bought for Adeline 😅 2021 was the absolute busiest year of my entire business, and I’m still trying to catch up on all my editing. But at the end of the day, I truly couldn’t be more thankful for all the opportunities and jobs I had. I’m so grateful for you all 🤍
Here’s my virtual Christmas card, from us to you! This was my first year doing this type of card (with a year in review back), and I LOVED IT! Definitely keeping this tradition. Sometimes photoshop comes in handy at the most random times 🎄
Tell me! Any special holiday traditions you and your family do each hear?! (We make cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning and wear matching Jammie’s Christmas Eve!! No shame in my game haha)

SANTA IS COMING IN ONE WEEK!!!!!! And every parent around the world is working hard to make the Christmas magic and holiday joy come to life!
(With the fire going, a perfectly clean house, homemade gingerbread cookies and warm soup in the crock pot, showered and completely caught up on wrapping and shopping…. 😂🤣 yea right. Anyone else wrapping presents in sweatpants, with a full laundry basket, backpacks needing to be unpacked from school parties, take out for the fifth night in a row and surviving off of too many cups of coffee? Just me? Cool cool everything’s fine).

Also. Parents of twins or multiples. You are the realest of real MVPs 🙌🏼

One of my favorite families, that I’ve had the honor of photographing since Lauren was pregnant with Cash, 6 years ago! Maternity, wedding, engagement, and now they’re expecting a precious baby girl (and Lord willing, I’ll be there photographing her birth)!
Truly the greatest honor, getting to watch relationships and families grow, while being able to capture these fleeting moments for my sweet clients and friends.
I love you Finelli family!!!!!
(PLEASE do yourself a favor and swipe to the last photo if you want a good laugh and are a dog lover 🤣)

Also. In home shoots are maybe my favorite. Don’t get me wrong, an epic location with a massive scenic background is amazing, but there’s something so real and intimate about taking photos in someone’s home. Definitely a level of comfortability that’s unmatched anywhere else.

Yesterday I had the Monday of all Monday’s. I spilled my grande coffee all over my car, burned a dozen chocolate chip cookies, completely forgot my son had a dentist appointment and therefore became a no call no show, broke my tripod trying to self timer our Christmas card family photo (WHILE my camera was attached to it), and maybe the worst of all…. I ordered almost 3 dozen client usb boxes to send my wedding couples that were supposed to say Mr & Mrs 2021 (they are also personally customized)…. And when they arrived yesterday, they each said Mrs & Mrs. So I had to manually remake each individual one, then rush ship them to get in time for Christmas.
It was a freaking hard day and honestly, I’m just finding humor in it at this point.
Here’s to hoping today is a much better day!
Happy Tuesday, friends 🤍

Guys, I have edited over 36 hours in four days. I rarely feel any sense of burnout with my job because I love it SO much, but this has been a crazy season and your girl needs some rest. I’m still buried but I booked myself a full body massage this week and let me tell you, zero regrets!
If you need a sign to rest. To remember to put you and self care on that to do list of yours, this is it. Trust me, I am always at the bottom of my priority list unless I intentionally make time and space for my own mental and physical health. It’s hard. But this time of year is insane and I know so many of you reading this are sitting in your pjs or sweats, buried in your editing cave, drinking you 3rd or 4th cup of coffee, head pounding and eyes burning. If a few hours or hell, ONE DAY OFF, is what you need: you deserve it. I deserve it 🤍

I think my favorite part of pursuing family photography is that I get to reunite with my clients regularly. Telling different parts of their stories, watching their babies grow and their families grow, is such a blessing. I love this family so much, and each time I get to photograph them, we just talk and daydream and it feels like the most natural and easy going “session” ever. I think we talk more than we shoot. Truthfully, I know we do haha. Swipe to see the original chair family photo we got when Bode was just an infant 🥺 forever going to get you all to squeeze on this rocker for me, no matter how many babies are in your arms! Love you sweet Roloff fam, so so so much. And perfect baby Radley, you stole my heart.
