Next sneak peek is a very bittersweet one.

My Senior. 🄹

We totally took advantage of a gorgeous little window in the weather this evening and snuck outside to grab these. And while I’m looking at these images through my photographer eyes, it’s impossible not to look at them through my mom eyes, too.

So much pride. So incredibly honored that she wanted me to be the one to capture this season of her life.

But if I’m being completely honest… I’m not ready for the fact that she’s already a senior. 😭

How did we get here so fast?

I know I’m biased, but I think she’s pretty beautiful. And getting to document these moments for her is something I’ll always treasure. ā¤ļø

Today’s session…

ā€œCan I bring my dog?ā€

YES. Always yes—as long as we’re headed somewhere dogs are permitted. Your four-legged family members are welcome to join in on the fun!

The other mission for today’s session? BRIGHT. ā˜€ļø

So naturally, we planned for 8 AM, hoping to catch that beautiful morning light. And on the drive to our location, we were treated to a gorgeous sunrise. It was looking like everything was falling perfectly into place…

And then, as we got closer, Mother Nature once again said, ā€œNope.ā€ šŸ˜‚

In rolled the fog. šŸŒ«ļø

But honestly? I think this sneak peek proves it didn’t matter one bit.

Sometimes the light you planned for isn’t the light you get…

…sometimes what Mother Nature gives you ends up being even better.

Not my typical sneak peek…because this probably isn’t the final look we’ll end up with.

Tonight’s senior session didn’t exactly go as planned, despite our best efforts to outsmart Mother Nature. šŸŒ©ļø The radar showed we were in the clear, so we thought we’d have just enough time to get the session in before the storms arrived.

But if you look closely in the background… āš”ļø

We managed to capture a handful of beautiful images before the skies opened up and sent us packing. ā˜”ļø

Sometimes that’s just how outdoor photography goes. Thankfully, we have plenty more session to look forward to! I’m excited to plan Part āœŒšŸ» and head back to this gorgeous location—hopefully with the golden skies we were dreaming of tonight.

Stay tuned… I have a feeling this session is going to be worth the wait.

I’m definitely a little behind on sharing galleries that have already been delivered, but I wanted to take a moment to catch up and highlight this beautiful family.

I had the pleasure of meeting them for the first time during my lavender sessions earlier this summer, and they were such a joy to photograph. Their children were incredibly sweet, and it felt like we were simply spending the evening chatting while capturing memories among the blooms.

And yes… I had to include a black-and-white image (or two) because it was simply the perfect choice for this father-son moment. Sometimes color tells the story, but sometimes the absence of it says even more.

Somewhere in between my full time job and my family, I’ll be stalking the weather like it is my J O B! For those that have sessions over the next week…it’s going to be day by day, sometimes an hour by hour, thing for your session. My goal is to make your session happen as planned but unfortunately, Mother Nature does not always get my memo about our photo session! šŸ¤žšŸ»

It was such a joy spending some time with Annaleigh among the beautiful rows of lavender. šŸ’œ I can’t wait for her full senior session!

One thing I’m quickly learning about today’s seniors… they love the big picture. The sweeping landscapes, the wide-open spaces, the photos that tell a story—not just the close-up smile.

And honestly? I love that.

As a photographer, it’s a delicate balance. I want to create the artistic, scenic images that seniors are drawn to while also making sure Mom and Dad receive those timeless portraits they’ll treasure for years to come.

The best galleries have a little bit of everything—the breathtaking scenery, the genuine smiles, the little details, and the classic portraits.

Annaleigh, thank you for trusting me. This lavender session was just the beginning, and I can’t wait for what’s next! 🌿✨

There is something special about photographing a momma and her children.

The laughter. The quiet moments with mom. The playful smiles, the sweet little kiss, and those little in-between moments that can’t be posed—they simply happen.

This beautiful trio made my job easy. We captured a mix of timeless portraits and candid moments that truly reflect who they are together, and those authentic connections are always my favorite images to deliver.

Thank you for trusting me to preserve these memories. It was such a joy with you all in the lavender fields, and I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to tell a small part of your family’s story. šŸ’œ

Many photographers have an editing style that’s instantly recognizable. It’s often one of the first pieces of advice new photographers hear: find your style…and find it quickly.

My perspective is a little different. (Shocker if you know me well) šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜‰

My style isn’t about making every gallery look the same. My style is creating images that feel authentic to you.

That’s why I’m such a big believer in inspiration photos. SEND THEM ALWAYS!!! They aren’t about copying someone else’s work but instead they help me understand the mood, emotion, colors, and overall feel you’re hoping to achieve. They tell me your story before we ever click the shutter. They help me make recommendations on where we go for your session.

Tonight kicked off the first of many Class of 2027 senior sessions, and Izzy absolutely nailed her session. The inspiration images she shared reflected who she is, and I couldn’t have been more excited to bring that vision to life…

So here’s a little sneak peek…where we started, where we ended, and a glimpse of everything in between. šŸ“ø šŸ‘€

ā˜€ļøLet’s talk tan lines!

As we head into one of my busiest seasons for senior sessions, here’s a little tip that can make a big difference in your final images.

Small tan lines—like from a watch, bracelet, or hair tie? Those are usually very manageable as you can see here. šŸ‘€

For my senior ladies, though, be mindful of swimsuit tan lines throughout the summer. If you’re spending lots of time at the pool or beach, try alternating swimsuit styles so the same tan lines don’t continue to deepen. It’s also a good idea to think about the necklines of the outfits you plan to wear for your session and how tan lines might show.

I will always do my best to blend and soften tan lines during editing, but the more severe the contrast, the more difficult it becomes to create a natural look. A little planning now can save a lot of editing later—and help your photos look their very best! šŸ¤ŒšŸ»šŸ¤—šŸ«¶
