Film scans from A & M’s elopement day in the Rocky Mountains.

A day spent hiking in the mountains, sharing a romantic ceremony in the forest, and ending with celebrations at a local brewery where they watched videos from family and friends back home.

You’re allowed to leave your own wedding.

Like, literally.

Go take a walk.
Go sit by the lake.
Go sip some wh**ky together.
Go watch the sunset.
Go disappear for 30 minutes while everyone else is doing their thing.

Your guests will survive.

And honestly, I think you might remember those 30 minutes more fondly than you remember half of the formalities.

Your wedding day doesn’t have to beg be giant group activity from beginning to end.   It is “your day” after all.

Just remembering that time a couple of years ago when the northern lights POPPED OFF in Estes Park, Colorado and it just so happened to be K & D’s wedding day too.

I would relive this Telluride wedding day over and over again. And luckily, through photography, we get to. ;)

But seriously. The couple, the family, the views, the vendor team… it was one of those days filled with so much love and joy that your face hurts from smiling so much. The kind of experience that has you still sitting on cloud 9 for days afterward.

In case you’re coming to Colorado for your wedding or elopement…

Please don’t feel like you have to know where everything is. Especially if it’s your first time visiting.

There are hundreds of trails, overlooks, lakes, mountain towns, restaurants, cabins, and outfitters…

It can feel like a lot.

But don’t worry. Figuring out where to go and how to celebrate are some of my favorite parts of my job as your photographer.

Yesterday we celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary.

Eight whole years of adventures as husband and wife (plus the three years before that). Eight whole years of making my favorite story.

Yesterday felt particularly awesome because, for the first time, we were celebrating with a baby in tow. After so many years of truly epic bucket-list adventures, somehow this chapter feels like our best one yet.

Here’s to all the wonderful years to come!

When you’re vacationing in Rocky Mountain National Park for your first wedding anniversary, you obviously have to do some couples photos.

I mean… what better way to remember a trip like this?

These two came all the way to Colorado to celebrate one year of marriage, and I’m so grateful we got to spend a beautiful evening together in the mountains.
