When you’re vacationing in Rocky Mountain National Park for your first wedding anniversary, you obviously have to do some couples photos.

I mean… what better way to remember a trip like this?

These two came all the way to Colorado to celebrate one year of marriage, and I’m so grateful we got to spend a beautiful evening together in the mountains.

Things I’ve learned in my first month of motherhood and how they relate to photography (a stream of consciousness).

Time really is a thief. It’s not just a cliche. Every moment, every new little milestone is so fleeting. Even when you’re intentionally so, so present.

Take the pictures.

There’s no such thing as too many photos. Even if there’s a mess in the background.

And let me tell you, I’m loving my new ability to embrace this. My camera roll used to be so aesthetic and well maintained. Now it’s just stacked full of imperfect moments that I can’t stop looking back at.

Even the ordinary becomes meaningful.

The moments in the hospital where he was just laying there sleeping, nothing particularly exciting happening… do you know how long I’ve stared at those photos since??

Taking photos feels more important than ever.

Oh, and apparently elopements and adventure racing have been training me for parenthood this whole time. 😂 Doing demanding things with little rest? Turns out I WAS way more prepared for this than I thought.

I’m already seeing things so differently, and I have a feeling this season of life is going to have a pretty big impact on the way I photograph people, too.

In the best way.

Majority of the couples I work with here in Colorado for their wedding come from out of state.

And many of them are even coming to Colorado for their first time ever!

Which is exciting… but I also know that planning a wedding (out even a photo session) somewhere you’ve never been can feel a little overwhelming.

Where do you even go?

What’s actually worth doing?

Who should you hire?

And where is the best place to even start?

That’s one of the favorite parts of what I do. I get to help you figure out all of those little details and hopefully make the process a little less overwhelming and a lot more fun.

I’m so, so proud of all the beautiful experiences we’ve put together so far, and I can’t wait for all the ones still to come.

So… are you in?

Part 2 of this outdoor wedding day in the Colorado mountains!

After a sunrise hike with their dogs, we met up with family in a meadow near the trailhead for their wedding ceremony.

P walked down the aisle to the sound of an acoustic guitar playing and got to marry A surrounded by their closest family.

A little brunch reception followed the ceremony under the pavilion at Hermit Park before heading to Lake Estes for some paddle boarding in the afternoon sun.

This was truly a day where an adventure elopement meets a small wedding.

Yay for couples who celebrate on their own terms, no matter what that looks like.

Intimate wedding 🤝 elopement

These two started their wedding day with a sunrise hike, just the two of them and their dogs. It felt just like an adventure elopement!

They climbed up to a beautiful overlook with 360 degree views to read wedding vows to one another as the sun came up.

It was so peaceful up there, and the views of the Rocky Mountains were absolutely breathtaking. It made for a perfectly slow start to a day of celebrations.

Stay timed for part 2 where they met back up with family for a ceremony and picnic before hopping on some paddleboards. ;)

What it looks like when you sneak away from your wedding reception to watch the sunset from a mountaintop in Rocky Mountain National Park.

The guests have food and drinks and each other to mingle with, and you get a few extra minutes just the two of you to soak it all up.
