My new Year of the Fire Horse card, available at Artist In Residence, in St. Albans and Blue Cottage in Hinesburg. This was a photo of my friend Dina's Belgian, Clayton. I made it a black and white, took the background out, turned it red and cleaned it up pixel by pixel. Overall probably 6 hours worth of work through Corel paintshop Pro.

Time for a post of a different sort. Along with my art, I started an antique, collectible & oddities resale business a few years back and now I think it's time to start a new weekly posting of "What I found this week Friday". So, here it is - found at the Yankee Pedlars' Shoppe on River Road in Essex Junction, this is an older piece that was carved from a solid block of wood. Poor kitty has been dropped, resulting in a few cracks and a chipped ear, but it has a lovely appeal. It may stay around for a while until I stabilize the head crack - we'll see. And yes, those are carrots, I was on the way to the horse barn. If you are in the area stop in at The Yankee Pedlars Shoppe, great finds and decent prices.

August Featured Artists



The Featured Artist Reception at the Artist In Residence Gallery on August 7th will feature 3 live demonstrations with the artists answering questions about their work. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy light refreshments while they talk with the artists and view the amazing work of our 42 member artists.

Barry Genzlinger is a wood turner. He makes wooden bowls and spinning tops. He will be doing a sidewalk demonstration in front of the gallery from 4:30 to 6:30 where he will make bowls and tops.

Tess Follensbee is a painter and mixed media artist of many subjects. Between 4:30 and 6:30, she will be creating sketches of visitors, other artists, and surrounding scenery.

Kristina Bolduc is a multidisciplinary artist. She creates art through painting, printmaking, and mixed media. She will share how a linoleum block print is created, giving a demonstration at the Thursday reception.

Please consider joining contributing Artists at the Bird of Vermont Museum for their Artist Meet & Greet Showcase on July 24th. This wonderful museum is a non-profit, has incredible local bird info and a very unique Gift Shop filled with items for that Birder in your life.
