One might ask, what is "low altitude" aerial photography and how it differs from traditional aerial photography.We utilize a state of the art, remotely controlled "quadcopter" which allows us to position our camera into locations where full scale aircraft or helicopters simply cannot go. While most full scale aerial photography is done from altitudes of 1000 feet or higher, we're able to operate f

rom ground level to tree top level or several hundred feet above ground level. This reduces the amount of atmosphere between the camera lense and the object were photographing and allows us to get closer to our subject to capture more detail than ever imagined before. Low altitude aerial photographs and video give a unique perspective that until now have only been dreamed of. They provide an oblique view, which just isn't possible from ground level. Aerial photographs can show access routes and neighboring developments. They're especially great for showcasing property on or near water such as lake front property.

Sometimes it's those pictures you take by mistake that end up being the best - as was the case with this one now on Jay Peak's 2013 Summer Magazine. I was setting up to fly behind the tram as it was heading up the hill - just as I went to lift off, I thought - man the Sun is right in my eyes and I can't see the quad if I go after the tram. I stopped the camera and later found this awesome image...

What's that? It's the first XP2 I know of flying a 2-axis gimbal. This should allow for much improved horizon tracking on those tricky flyovers requiring long distance and high speed. Now just gotta figure out how to get the Hero3 to fit with its protective case.
