One of my favorite things about engagement sessions? I get to chase the good light. 🙌

On a wedding day, I don’t always get to choose when portraits happen. The ceremony time is set, there’s a timeline to follow, and sometimes portraits need to happen right in the middle of the day, not exactly my favorite light to work with.

Engagement sessions are different.

We choose the location, I choose our start time based on sunset, and we can plan everything around that soft, glowy light I love to photograph.

There’s also no wedding-day timeline pushing us along. We have time to walk around, try different spots, change outfits, and actually get to know each other along the way.

It gives me a little more creative freedom and gives you those dreamy engagement photos you’ve been saving to your Pinterest board.🤍

But after years of shooting in every kind of weather New Hampshire can throw at me, overcast days have become some of my favorites.

I know everyone wants sunshine on their wedding day, but hear me out…☁️

The forecast might not have given us that golden summer light, but it gave us soft, even light all day long. And honestly? I’ll take it.

Bright colors, a gorgeous ceremony by the water, a wedding party that was ready to have fun, and plenty of real moments happening in between.

This is why I always tell my couples not to stress too much about the weather. We work with what the day gives us, find the best light, and keep going. Your photos can still be bright, colorful, and full of life even when the sun never makes an appearance.

Just two of my favorite people, two of my favorite pups, and a summer elopement. Honestly, what more do you need?

I photographed their engagement session, so getting to come back and photograph their wedding made this one even more special. And of course the pups had to be included too.🐾

Small weddings like this are so much fun to photograph. Everything feels relaxed, there’s no pressure to follow a big wedding day schedule, and we have plenty of time to just have fun and take some really great photos.

My 2026 calendar is officially closed, but I’m booking weddings and elopements for 2027! If you’re planning something big, small, or somewhere in between, I’d love to hear what you’re planning.🤍
