One of the best parts of a giveaway is seeing a whole bunch of new faces on my account, so since you’re here I’d love to take a second to (re)introduce myself and tell you a little about me.

My name is Katie, but I go by Kate around here. (I’ll answer to either though)
Started photography over 10 years ago after I got super burnt out making cupcake/cake toppers to sell on Etsy, while living in Alaska.
My husband of 17 years (this Friday) has been in the army for 18 years and is set to retire in just 2 years! 😱
We’ve lived in NC, TX, AK, GA, HI, and now AL, and have 4 beautiful amazing kiddos together.
I’m not a social butterfly at all, maybe not “introverted, but love quality one on one time with people and then going home. Actually, I am obsessed with being home, specifically cuddled up in bed with my babies. I love a good thriller/suspense book, gardening (flowers and veggies), doing 1000 piece puzzles, delicious iced coffee beverages and, as of lately, an iced matcha latte with raspberry cold foam on top 🤤, interior design aka making my house look pretty, working out/lifting/exercising is a major love/hate relationship I’m in, and hugs are my favorite.
I’m so blessed to be able to have a talent, that allows me to stay home and take care of my people while also bringing in some income, and getting to meet so many amazing families and capture such beautiful memories for them is the cherry on top.

It’s been a LONG WHILE since I’ve done a session giveaway, and with Mother’s Day right around the corner, what would be a better gift than a free family session?!

Here’s the deets:
One lucky person will win a free LOCAL (enterprise/dothan/etc) full session with me - one hour of shooting, all the best images, and access to my client closet and styling. Sneak peeks of Mother’s Day Minis 🫶🏼
In complete transparency, I had an absolute mental/emotional breakdown the day after my minis.
I didn’t book very many slots, and after spending so much money on florals to make them extra extravagant this year, I barely made a penny. I haven’t had many clients at all lately, people that know me and know that I’m a photographer, choose other photographers, and I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong, and why I’m not booking. At almost 36 I thought I would have my life figured out and be well established and confident in my career, but the past couple years have felt like a major decline and my self confidence is really taking a hit. After 10 years in business, I thought I would have my footing, but that’s not really the case and it makes me pretty heartbroken.
And I tell you all this not to guilt trip people or ask for pity, but to hopefully help everyone understand that photographers are actual people too, with real feelings, and we’re really doing our best, and it just really kinda sucks to know that you have a talent and can create permanent tangible memories of such beautiful moments, while making an income and being able to support your family, but it’s just not happening.
That’s all. Call it “de-influencing” if you will.

Do you guys remember when I used to live in Hawaii and my entire calendar was booked out a year in advance and people would actually BEG me to squeeze them in and offer to pay me more money if could?!
Pretty sure those were also the days where Instagram showed my posts to more than 1200 people.
The good ole days….

On our way to the beach on Friday, I said to my older kids “ok here’s my list of things I love in nature…” and immediately my son goes “TREES!” And I said “YESSSSSS, that’s my number one.” Trees are just the freakin best. Take me anywhere with some amazing trees and I’m a happy girl.
With that being said, this new location is perfection and I can’t wait to shoot with my families here.
Even on this gloomy, cloudy, sprinkly day, it was stunning, and I’m obsessed!

Does anyone else have the hardest time doing WORK in the spring?! The second spring offiially hits and the sun is out daily, it’s like I have an actual aversion to sitting inside in front of my computer! If I could somehow garden or go on a walk and edit simultaneously that would be so great for me, ya know?!
