Being a family photographer means so much of my work naturally includes children. Their little personalities, milestones, connections with Mom and Dad, and all the beautiful chaos in between are a huge part of the stories I get to tell.
Moving forward, I will no longer be posting individual, identifiable portraits of children on my photography social media pages.
I can find other ways to market my business. 🖤
After seeing the recent Seventh Circuit ruling involving AI-generated images of children—and honestly, just seeing how quickly AI is changing—I’ve been thinking a lot about this.
And I want to make one thing very clear—this does not mean I will stop taking them.
When you book a session with me, we are still going to capture all of it.
The individual portraits.
The smiles.
The silly faces.
The images Grandma wants framed.
Those images will still be photographed, beautifully edited and delivered right to your private gallery for you to keep and share however you choose. They simply won't become content for my Facebook or social media pages.
My minor model release will still remain part of my client agreement and allows me to share appropriate images from your session for portfolio and marketing purposes. Parents will also always have the option to request that their family's images not be shared at all.
At the end of the day, I'm a mom before I'm a business owner. I know how fiercely I protect my own babies, and I want to give the children who step in front of my camera that same consideration.
Some photographs can simply belong to you. 🤍
And I think there's something really special about that.
