🚨 A CHANGE IN HOW I’LL BE SHARING PHOTOS 🚨
Something happened in August that really made me stop and think as a photographer and a mom.
On August 25, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit ruled that, under existing Supreme Court precedent, privately possessing certain AI-generated CSAM depicting fictional children in the home is constitutionally protected. This matters because a federal appeals court carries significant legal weight, and the ruling highlighted how quickly AI has advanced beyond the laws currently in place.
That was enough for me to make a change.
Going forward, I will no longer post identifiable images of children on my photography page, signed release or not. I’ll also be removing existing images that show identifiable children.
Could this affect my business? Maybe.
But protecting children and the families who trust me will always matter more than marketing my business.
I can’t control what technology can do with an image once it’s online, but I can control what I choose to put out there.
And for me, that choice is simple.
