Mike Berenson Photography - Fine Art Starry Night Landscapes Professional Fine Art Night, Landscape, and Nature Photographer and Workshop Instructor/Trainer - ht Of course, let me know if you run into any questions.

Having found my love for photography deep in the tropical waters of the Caribbean, I found a great drive to share the wonders of the world with those who aren't so fortunate to see it for themselves. Now, I use that same passion to drive me into the dark of the night in my home state of Colorado and beyond - still with the same underlying mission to share the wonders of the world with those who ar

en't so fortunate. Join me on a photographic adventure - whether through my images or on one of my night photography workshops. That's right, you can share the passion and see the techniques that result in magnificent nightscape images. Either way, you're sure to pick up some inspiration along the way! For those interested in learning more about my night photography techniques, be sure to check out my Night Photography Blog where I post articles that supplement the content I teach in my night photography workshops including "How To" Articles and Tutorials, Product Reviews, and Recommended Photo Gear. Triangulum Galaxy - M33
I've been looking forward to capturing a good image of the Triangulum Galaxy and I finally made it happen.

From my home in Colorado, I was able to capture multiple exposures using iTelescope's T19 deep space telescope based in Mayhill, New Mexico. This is the result of shooting 24 images over 2 nights - 10/1/2021 and 10/2/2021.

Delicate Curves
In one of our final visits to Delicate Arch with Low Level Lighting, our class certainly made the most of it. Lighting like this is no longer allowed at Delicate Arch - which will give us a combination of naturally dark locations inside the parks and great locations outside the parks where we can continue to illuminate with our other permits. A little flexibility sure goes a long way and Darren White and I are both happy to do our part.

Ocean's Gentle Slide
Ask most anyone and they'll tell you that the ocean is not friendly or forgiving. It's powerful and it deserves respect. But when a wave recedes, that moment can look really smooth and peaceful - even if it's just for a brief moment. It's certainly a very peaceful side of the Pacific Ocean - captured in Brookings, Oregon.

Connecting With People
It's easy to forget what we do as photographers. Yes, we see some beautiful places, we capture images and share, print, and sell them too. But more than that, we connect with people through our photography and that my friend, is something very special. Thank you Tanner for reminding me of that. ♥

Hi Mike - I just wanted to say thank you. I bought the picture and gave it to my wife for our anniversary (see attached). It's a sweet reminder for us of who's in charge. Thanks again and keep taking photos! Tanner

Tidal Pool Flow
I was lucky enough to join Darren White Photography - Fine Art Landscapes for some exploring on the Oregon Coast and this spot with tide pools at Cannon Beach was one of my favorites. This picture may look still but the motion of the waves was a big part of the fun. This sure was a great place to explore!

A Swipe With The Claw
Of course I still love the Milky Way, but I also love capturing images that show a sense of time. That's where we get to go beyond the 3 dimensions we're so used to seeing so we can step into the 4th. I really like images that make you think - about our place here on earth and beyond.

How I Got The Shot
I captured two images from this location in Canyonlands National Park with the moon low in the sky before it dropped below the horizon. I shot two exposures - one 33 minutes and another one at 66 minutes of exposure time. On the first shot, I had good lighting but I liked the longer trails from the second - so I did an exposure blend where I included the long star trails from the longer exposure and the brighter light on the foreground from when the moon was higher in the sky.

Leading A Horse To Water
I don't think it was just me that felt something special at this spot at Firehole Lake in Yellowstone National Park. With the gentle steam and the glowing stars reflecting in the calm water, the view was stunning. But what really got my attention were all the sounds of Yellowstone at night. The breeze was really gentle so it carried all the sounds of the wild right to our ears - making a wonderful experience.

In this image, Jupiter looks like it's leading the Dark Horse (nebula) to the waters of Firehole Lake.

Forever In Paradise
Sure, I may love capturing the night skies with my camera. But I also love to just lay down and look up at the sky so I can really take it in. And when I get the chance to visit a high mountain location like this, I find I love the sounds almost as much as the sights. It's certainly a treat that makes me feel like I'm not just seeing nature, I'm feeling it.

This image is the result of long project (years and years, yada yada) that shows off the wonders of the night in a way I'd not seen before. It slows me down and helps me to think about how a sense of place works together with a sense of time. In many ways, this is true paradise but it won't stay that way without our help in treasuring and protecting our public lands. I hope you'll join me in this effort so all of us (and our kids) can enjoy paradise forever!

Stairway To Heavenly Windows
Sometimes it's all about the journey and this spot shows that as good as any I've seen. It's so easy to walk right past this spot on the way to the North Window but we like to make the most of the stair stepped walkway especially when the Milky Way is in position. When they line up right, they are a sight to behold… and they give our students a great opportunity to capture a masterpiece.

When A 5 Star Hotel Just Isn't Enough
No, I was not really camping at this location but it sure makes for a fun picture! Light from glowing stars, a rising moon, and a little tea light inside my tent combined to make this longtime vision come to life in an image that should look great in a print.

With our teaching workshops at this location, it wasn't hard to come up with this vision and so I came back on my own time (not during a workshop) with a plan to make it happen. Many thanks to workshop alumni Hal Mitzenmacher for joining me and making it such a memorable experience. :-)

If you're lucky enough to visit this location in Canyonlands National Park, Utah, please treat it with respect, follow "leave no trace" principles, and be very careful to minimize unnecessary risks.

The Magical Moment
It's one thing to see nature but to really experience it together with others (who value it as well) can be even more magical. This scene at Delicate Arch was one of those magical moments with great scenery, timing & conditions including a setting moon, a glowing Milky Way, and a great group of people making the most of it. Most of the people there were in our workshop and everyone was working together, capturing great images, and having a wonderful experience under the stars.
