Picture This! 📸

An early morning on the Roanoke River, calm water, beautiful light, and stunning river scenery! Not a bad “office” for a morning spent capturing photos and videos for upcoming projects.

While I was photographing and filming the boss, he managed to capture a few candid shots of me, too!

Dewly Impressed 🌸💧

Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest impression. Delicate droplets of dew resting on the soft pink petals of a dahlia turn an already beautiful bloom into something worth a closer look.

As the morning unfolds, the dew will disappear, making this delicate display all the more fleeting.

Much Ado About Mull! 🐓

Only in eastern North Carolina can a humble pot of chicken mull be the star of an entire festival! Bear Grass rolled out the welcome mat this past weekend for its 13th Annual Chicken Mull Festival.

Chicken mull has been a local favorite for generations. Made with chicken, broth, and crushed crackers, this simple Southern dish has long brought friends and neighbors together around the table.

The festival was a wonderful celebration of small-town life, with plenty of good food, entertainment, and friendly faces.

Rockin’ the View!

Taking in the spectacular views from the top of Chimney Rock, North Carolina — all 360 degrees of them!

I captured this video using a 360° action camera mounted on an extended selfie stick. Here’s the magic: the camera makes the stick invisible in the footage, so instead of seeing me holding it, it looks like a camera is floating freely in the air, capturing me and the incredible scenery from every angle!

No drone, no cameraman — just a little camera magic and a whole lot of breathtaking scenery!

Mountain Memories

A few days in the mountains, a change of scenery, and plenty of beautiful sights along the way!

From Boone and Asheville to Cherokee, Townsend, Pigeon Forge, and Chimney Rock, the journey was filled with winding roads, amazing views, and little adventures around every bend.

The fall colors weren't quite at their peak, but the mountains have a beauty that needs no season.

A Penny “Fur” Your Thoughts

Sitting quietly among the grasses, this black bear seems lost in thought. With that sweet expression and faraway gaze, you can’t help but wonder what’s on his mind.

Perhaps he’s pondering life’s great mysteries. Or maybe he’s simply wondering what’s for dinner.

Not every quiet moment needs an explanation. Sometimes, the beauty of the wild is found in the questions it leaves unanswered.

🐧 Waddle Life! 🐧

Big personalities, curious expressions, and plenty of penguin charm!

I had a wonderful time photographing the newest residents at Penguin Point at Sylvan Heights Bird Park in Scotland Neck. A special thanks to Tom Harrison, who serves on the park's board of directors, for inviting me to tag along! We also enjoyed hearing from Dustin Foote (SHBP Director of Aviculture), who shared some fascinating insights about the penguins and their new home.

Officially opened on October 17, Penguin Point welcomed ten African penguins to eastern North Carolina. Native to the coast of southern Africa, these fascinating birds are critically endangered, making the new exhibit more than just a fun attraction. It's also an opportunity to learn about the importance of wildlife conservation.

From their comical waddles to their graceful underwater swimming, these penguins certainly know how to put on a show!

The Protégé 🌼

Beneath the golden petals of a dahlia in full bloom, a little bud waits in the shadows.

For now, it is content to watch, to grow, and to dream of the day it, too, will unfold in all its glory.

For a true protégé does more than admire the bloom before it. In time, it finds its own place in the sun.
