At the ripe young age of 19 you were who taught me what unconditional love was - what true love really was - what it felt like. I loved you from the moment I knew you were coming... I knew you were coming before I found out you were on your way - I felt it in my soul - you’ve always done that to me. I knew you were a girl from the start. The first name I picked was Madalynn - and it was the name I kept going back to because nothing else felt right. Marie - your middle name - after your grandmother and great grandmother - because I’d have it no other way. Genes of strong women... a strong name... for a tiny baby - that would grow into a strong young lady one day.
*
That day has come...
*
In a blink of an eye you’re all grown up - even though you always say “I’m like, TWO”. You’ve had lives ripped from you time and time again - yet you still choose to love. You learnt from MY mistakes and choose differently which makes me so proud. You’ve endured physical pain and set backs yet you’re the strongest person I know and you never give up. You’re surrounded by negativity in this world yet you choose joy. You’ve experienced many medical traumas, some still unknown, yet you have chosen a path in the medical field because you “want to take care of others and help others the way you’ve been helped and cared for" and you still push through your every day.
*
You’re beautiful beyond compare - and what makes you even more beautiful is you don’t even realize it.
*
You’re smarter than you’ll ever take credit for
*
You’re everything I never was
*
You’re everything I’ll never be
*
I always wanted you to be just like me... but I am so glad you're not... because you are better.
*
You will always be my saving grace

I Love You

When times get hard - remember Gods promise.

To become a mother, to bare children, to be trusted enough with His children... no bigger blessing can be bestowed upon us.

This sweet momma just delivered her third miracle baby days after our session! Her journey has been filled with obstacles, tears, sadness, loss, pain and despair... Today she told me every step of the way has been worth it... every tear, every heart ache, every sleepless night.

I sit tonight thinking... with out pain, without sadness, how would we know joy?

Its....all....worth....it!

Growing up I always wanted to live on a farm. My momma told me a story once about this time we took a visit to a family friends cow farm and I left in tears because I wasn’t able to bring a calf home with me (even though the farmer was more than happy to let me!)
🐄
I guess it’s always been there in my blood somewhere
🤷🏻‍♀️
I’m so blessed to live in a town that has the “right to farm” laws in effect. We own a home with three lots of land that gives us a little head start on our little farm that we hope to grow little by little until we can move out to the country.

AnnaMay wanted a cow for her 5th birthday and still asks for one here and there... baby girl you can have that milking cow when we get a bigger lot of land I promise you that! For now- she’s chillin’ with her chickens and her handsome rooster she’s named Spike 🐓
We go outside and she yells “Hi Spike” and he crows right back at her...

THE CUTEST THING EVER!

It’s truly amazing to see the interaction between Gods creatures and Gods children. This has been the biggest thing I’ve enjoyed watching during this Covid shutdown and I’m not even going to complain one bit!

I’ve had a bit of a hard time this Christmas season... my new job has opened my eyes to more reality, more truth, and more hardship than I had imagined before.

It wasn’t me being naive or dumb or clueless about life. I attended a private catholic school from pre-k all the way through high school graduation.... that’s the world I had always known. I grew up very well rounded and taught well by my parents... yet my eyes are opened to something larger - something new - yet something that has always been there.

A reality of children and families going without - struggling in their every day let alone around birthdays, special occasions and holiday seasons. These children that surround me- they know no different - they are just as happy and as joyful as the others surrounding them... I feel ashamed, I feel selfish, I feel blinded.

This year I’ve tried to do my part with humbly helping in a few different ways- in which I won’t discuss- we have been mindful of what and how much we get our OWN girls... as we want to teach them appreciation and humbleness for what they DO have as they grow.

I am spending this Christmas celebrating with my children, my fiancée, our families- and I will also spend it with these families and children in mind - praying that each sweet child be shown love, affection, attention and a few gifts so as they don’t feel forgotten.... so they too can keep the their youthfulness, their innocence and their imagination and wildest dreams soaring high.

This season has not been without struggle - yet this has been the most personally, emotionally and physically rewarding season I’ve experienced.... it’s a constant reminder that I am filling His purpose - I am where He wants me to be... Ive surrendered the plans I had made for myself and have fully embraced the plans He has made for me... and it’s never felt so good.

Things have been crazy around here the past few months to say the least. Water tanks broke, cars died, roofs leaked. We’ve had a lot of sickness passing through the house, but all seem to be on the mend now. Hunting season is wrapping up and we are lucky enough to have a freezer full of roasts, steaks and ground venison that’ll last us until next season thanks to Craigs diligence and passion for hunting and the outdoors. I’ve been busy in the studio most evenings and weekends the past few weeks with lots of help from Craig and both my girls! We have all been stretched thin with the multiple jobs and roles we play in our every day lives... dad, business owners, mom, daughters, photographer, students, workers... the list goes on.

This week I found myself thankful for the snow day. I was still awake at 5am - coffee on and the sound of sleet hitting the kitchen windows - I found myself thankful for the cold - thankful for the weather - I’ve been praying for a slow down - a catch me up - a little bit of grace.... I was handed that today. He put a message on my heart... “Rest”
His grace has poured over me - He has given me a day with my family... a day to rest, a day to make Christmas cookies with my girls, a day for snowman art projects and snuggles & movies on the couch.

Don’t take a moment for granted - don’t forget to slow down, appreciate what you have around you... thank the good Lord for each blessing whether it be big or small.

What family traditions do you carry on with your family each year!?!
Every year growing up my parents would dress all of us up in our best… My older sister and I always matched… pretty dress - stockings and patten leather shoes - and my brothers matched as well…slacks, button up shirt, tie and vest. We would go to Christmas Eve mass, then afterwards we would always go to my grandmothers house, order pudgies pizza and spend the evening with everyone… Aunts, uncles, cousins… it was glorious.

I remember standing over grandmas floor grate when the heat turned on… the grate right behind the living room chair she ALWAYS sat in. I stood there because it would warm me up and it made my pretty little christmas dress dance in the warm breeze… Kind of like Maralynn Monroe - but I had no idea who that was at that age!! It was one of our favorite spots so all of us kids use to fight over it…

We would play on the dining room window bench and crawl under the table giggling with delight… At one point the living room FILLED with gifts and our families traded the piles of perfectly wrapped boxes in preparation for taking them home and placing them under our christmas trees… there they would wait - until Christmas morning - before we would be able to open the presents our aunts, uncles and cousins so kindly gifted us! One other tradition we had - - - my favorite one when I was little - - - we each were allowed to open ONE gift before leaving grandmas house… I guess our parents were sick of hearing us beg… But, they tricked us because the gifts we always happen to open were socks! We were always a bit bummed despite knowing to expect it… Looking back I guess it DID help with the built up excitement of Santas arrival.

What traditions do your families have!?! What is your favorite part of this holiday season? Me… Being surrounded by my family and being able to all get together between everyones busy schedules… its the sweetest, warmest, most comforting feeling… knowing though we may be far apart we are always still just as close as when we were little.

Shhhhhh... Don’t tell Santa 😉

Sometimes these are the best moments... the moments we will remember the most... the ones we will look back on and laugh about with our grand children and our grand children’s grand children... this is just one piece of your legacy- that will live on long after you’re gone.

We aren’t just creating memories... pictures... photos to put in a frame... we are building a legacy that will last an eternity.
