"Sometimes that mountain you’ve been climbing is just a grain of sand." – Carrie Underwood

As I reflect on my recent adventure, I can’t help but hear that song. I had the incredible opportunity to visit a cattle ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska last November, and what a truly unique experience it was. The vast, open landscapes were nothing short of breathtaking, and I felt incredibly fortunate to witness such natural beauty.

The property was teeming with wildlife, which you all know I love, and I found myself captivated by the stunning vistas. As we rode around the property, it was easy to imagine that this area was once covered by water. There were moments when it felt like I would see the ocean just over the next hill!

I’m deeply grateful for the hospitality of our friends who invited us to experience the beauty of this extraordinary place, and to their family, who welcomed us with such warmth and hospitality. I can’t wait to share more of the amazing ranch photos I captured on this unforgettable journey.

I got to take a quick trip to the Smokies, where I leave a bit of my heart each time I go. On this trip, I got to do some hiking, which is always good for the soul, and see some beautiful sights. This bear was my favorite! He or she was in a tree eating acorns. I watched as the bear eventually snapped the branch and dropped it onto the car that was watching him or her from the road that was directly under the tree limb he or she was in. The branch left a big dent in their hood. The bear just looked on, as it seemed to contemplate how to get the branch with the acorns back! The owners of the car were grinning ear to ear while talking to bystanders, going home with the story of how they got a big dent in their hood. I also was blessed to see some beautiful scenery, which I will share with y'all another time! I hope y'all are having a wonderful week! A few more days to the weekend! Hang in there!

Hello everyone! I hope y'all are enjoying some beautiful weather wherever you are! I love springtime, especially when I get to see all the new babies running around! This is the first fawn I got to experience this spring, just a little over a week ago. I saw this little one with it's Mama and it's twin, who was a little bit camera shy.☺️I have seen more fawns so far this year than I have the past couple years and that makes me so happy! I would love to take a trip to the Smoky Mountains soon to see the baby bear cubs. Remember the baby robin that I saved? It comes to visit me everyday on my back porch. It is growing fast! I also have the cutest little baby bunnies in my back yard. I have also seen baby groundhogs, baby ducks, baby geese...so many babies! I love nature and all the babies I get to see! How about you? I hope y'all are having a good week!

Hello everyone! Spring has sprung! I have seen my first hummingbirds of the year, but haven't captured their pictures yet. Until then, here is a sweet scene I captured a couple days ago in my backyard! A bit before this scene, I saved this little one's sibling, as it got it's leg caught and was trying to get free. This mama was not a happy bird when that was going on, but she didn't try to hurt me. A little while after that, I saw this little one hopping around my flowers, and mama flew in and I got to witness this! Nature is amazing! This little one has some little feathers that stick out from it's head that makes it look like it has a mohawk. So cute! Mama flew off and found and fed the little one that I saved right after this. That little one is doing good, as I was surprised to see it yesterday afternoon standing on a chair on my porch, taking a little break.😊I hope that y'all are having a great week!

Hello everyone! I hope that y'all are having a good week so far. I wanted to share this photo of a pair of woodpeckers that have been frequenting my yard this spring. I believe they are downy woodpeckers, but I'm not 100% sure, as hairy woodpeckers look very similar. Does anybody know if these are indeed downy woodpeckers? I will tell you that they are fun to watch when I get the chance. I am also eagerly awaiting the arrival of the hummingbirds! The last couple of days have been so beautiful here in Western PA, after dealing with heavy rains, thunderstorms, and hail. The weather has been crazy! Back to rain and thunderstorms here today. How is it where you are? I thank you for being here and I hope y'all have a fantastic week❤

Hello Everyone! I missed posting it yesterday, but yesterday was the 109th birthday of Rocky Mountain National Park! What a beautiful park it is! This photo was taken on my first trip there a couple of years ago. From the scenery (which is in every direction you look!) to the wildlife, there is beauty all around you when you visit the park. My first trip there was in the month of October and as you can see, there was snow up on the mountains. I have also been there in late summer and it was just as beautiful! If you ever get the chance to see it for yourself, do it! Happy Birthday Rocky Mountain National Park!

Hello! From the majestic moose yesterday, to the tiny, but beautiful, hummingbird moth on this cold snowy day. I am sitting by my fire, dreaming of warm, sunny days and this photo popped into my mind! I was taking a break on a warm, end-of-summer day. I wanted to feel the warmth of the sun, so I took to my back deck, where I have a lot of flowers. I just happened to be admiring my butterfly bush when I saw this hummingbird moth. It had been some time since I had had a chance to just sit and enjoy nature, and an even longer time since I had seen a butterfly moth! What a spectacular and fascinating little creature! Now most of you know by now how much I love hummingbirds and these little moths look so similar! I got to watch it flit around and enjoy the nectar from the butterfly bush for quite a while. This picture captured it getting a sweet, nutritious treat! It is so good for the soul to slow down and enjoy what nature has to share with you! I hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope to be able to share more with you this year. Life sometimes takes us away from things that we love to do the most, but I hope to be able to get back to taking and sharing more photographs with you this year, as I really miss it. So, let's start off with a big one! You may remember a post I made last fall about my first time seeing a moose. It was the most amazing experience for me, and one I had hoped for for a long time. I eluded to seeing another moose in that post and this is him! Isn't he amazing?!? It is crazy how long they can stay under water! In researching, I found that they can stay under for a full minute. While watching this moose, it seemed much longer than that! They are actually really good swimmers. They can reach swimming speeds up to 6 miles an hour. Amazing for how large they are! This photo was taken just as the sun rose above the mountains and shined down onto the moose in the water below. He was enjoying his morning snack and swim and was so much fun to watch! It was neat to see how the water cascaded off of his antlers every time he surfaced from feeding underwater. I'll have to share that photo with you all another time! I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Another really neat animal I got to see out west is the bighorn sheep. This particular photo was taken on my very first trip to Colorado almost two years ago. These sheep were at the top of my list of amazing things that I got to see on that trip, along with the prairie dogs of course!

Hello everyone! THIS moment is something that I have dreamed of...something that I wasn't sure would ever happen. I got to spend some time in Colorado last month. There were lots of sightings of moose in the area, and I was so excited to finally have a chance to see one. Time passed, and I kept getting disappointed, as every time I tried, it seemed that I just missed them. Then, one evening, there were a bunch of people on the side of the road and I just knew that it was about to happen! There he was...my first moose! I'm not ashamed to tell you that I may have had tears in my eyes! It was the most amazing thing to see with my own two eyes! He was laying down in some water, cooling himself, as it had been near 100° that day. His back was to us, and he wouldn't turn around, but that didn't matter to me. It was the best moment of the trip up to that point for me! That moment would lead to this picture. The next morning, we arrived before dawn and sat in the area where we saw him, with the hope that he may still be around. We got to see several shooting stars shoot across the dark sky, which was absolutely amazing. We heard an owl hooting off in the distance. It was so peaceful. Then, just as the sun was coming up, he decided to make another appearance! It was just him and us. What a beautiful experience! I took way too many photos of him, but I just couldn't help it! He grazed for a bit, then decided to lay down. I was ecstatic! Deciding it was time to move on down the road, it was time to go. To my surprise there was something else to see further down the same road.....another moose! That is a story (and photo) for another time though!

I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone! I had the the wonderful opportunity to visit Colorado last fall. It was absolutely amazing! I got to see things I have never seen before in the wild, like these prairie dogs. They were so much fun to watch and they were everywhere! I could have sat there and watched them all day! They had such funny little personalities. I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!
