"Reinvent yourself as many times as you want. "

Those words from Ann Bromery’s Forty Over 40 story tell you a lot about the woman I had the pleasure of getting to know better.

Growing up in a small New England town, the path others imagined for her was familiar, predictable, and comfortable. Her journey carried her far beyond that town it into a more suburban and cosmopolitan world. She became a wife, mother, executive, entrepreneur, investor, and a lifelong learner who continued following opportunities that challenged her.

By 40, she was Chief Financial Officer. At the same time, she built a real estate business, spending more than two decades buying, rehabilitating, and renting properties. She's trained in Krav Maga, loves refurbishing furniture, has a passion for construction projects, and has never stopped listening to that little voice that says:

“Try."

When she had children, many assumed that her professional ambitions would slow down. Instead, her daughters inspired her to think creatively, take risks, and pursue opportunities.

During Ann's Design Consultation, I quickly realized her portraits couldn't fit and neatly into one definition of who she is, because Ann doesn't either. And that was going to make this experience incredibly special.

We coordinated with her daughter Grace, who came from North Carolina to share in the experience, making an already meaningful day even more special. Ann also found beautiful, personal ways to honor her daughter Hannah throughout the experience.

We started in the studio with Mary beth’s makeup artistry, created portraits there, then headed to one of our local trails before finishing at The Collective Offshore and Encore, creating completely different looks that reflected the many sides of Ann.

One of my favorite passages from her story says: "You can be analytical and artistic, professional and adventurous, practical and bold." Ann is definitely living proof of that. She is a wonderful combination of intelligence, curiosity, strength, humor, and willingness to try something new.

And perhaps that's the message and story for all of us and especially the generations coming behind us:

"Your life doesn't have to look like anyone else's idea of what it should be.”

Trust your instincts. Take the chance. And be willing to surprise yourself.

Thank you, Ann. What an absolute joy was creating these with you and getting to know you better.

There’s a quiet strength about Angie that becomes evident the more you get to know her. It’s beautifully reflected in these words she shared with me, "I approach each day with passion and purpose."

After a successful career in marketing and communications, a Stage 2 breast cancer diagnosis changed the direction of Angie's life. Through her own healing journey, she discovered a new purpose. Today, she's a certified health coach helping women prioritize their health so they can become the strongest, healthiest versions of themselves.

When planning Angie's portrait experience, we wanted every image to reflect not only what she does, but who she is. Her kitchen became the backdrop because she believes healthy living begins at home, and that lasting habits are often built together as a family. Lake Elkhorn reflected the movement, gratitude, and time outdoors that are part of her everyday life. We finished in the studio, creating timeless portraits that convey the confidence, warmth, and professionalism her clients experience when they meet her.

One of the things I admire most about Angie is that she doesn't simply encourage healthy living, she LIVES it. Her personal values and professional mission are beautifully intertwined, and it was an honor to help tell a small part of her story.

Every portrait begins with a story.
Thank you, Angie, for trusting me with yours. 💝

The flood revealed the character of this community, and it taught us that 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭.

It includes every person who donated money, supplies, time, talent, blood, sweat, and tears. The children who held lemonade stands. The companies and organizations that organized fundraisers. The volunteers who showed up with shovels in hand. The people who wrote notes of encouragement. Leaders who organized donation drives for cleaning supplies to snacks. The businesses that provided meals and drinks for volunteers, residents, and business owners. The dedicated employees in our county offices who held our hands while giving us guidance, encouragement, and hope. Our local, state, and federal leaders, working together under the leadership of then County Executive Allan Kittleman.

And every person who understands that supporting local isn't just about where we shop or dine. It's also about who we hire, recommend, and trust with our families, our businesses, and our lives.

The flood revealed the strength of our commUNITY. The years since have proven it wasn’t temporary, it was who we have always been.

THANK YOU for continuing to support local businesses.

I’m thankful and grateful that you are part of this extraordinary commUNITY. 💝

Ten years after the 2016 flood ravaged Howard County’s Ellicott City, shop owners on Main Street still remember the tragedy that swept through the town.

The floods are part of our history. The people are our legacy.

As we mark the 10-year anniversary of the 2016 flood this week, I encourage you to take 30 minutes to watch Ellicott City: Rising Above.

My heartfelt thanks to Megan Knight and Blair Sabol of WMAR-2 News Baltimore for telling our story with such care and for shining a light on the resilience, hope, and heart of this extraordinary commUNITY. While time allows us to rebuild our businesses and recover financially, my thoughts remain with the families and loved ones of those whose lives were lost. Buildings and businesses can be restored. Lives cannot. They will never be forgotten.

This special also serves as a tribute to small business owners everywhere. Behind every storefront is someone who has invested their savings, their dreams, countless hours, and often their family's future into creating something meaningful. Small businesses don't just occupy buildings, they help shape the character of a community, create places where memories are made, and remind us that resilience is built one day, one person, one act of hope at a time. Thank you to Dave - The Wine Bin and Vesper at Pike & Main, Tammy - Sweet Elizabeth Jane, Jason - All Time Toys, and Mark - The Phoenix Emporium for sharing your experiences and reminding everyone why it’s so important to support local businesses.

After weeks of stopping by to photograph Vesper at Pike & Main as it came to life, and more recently spending an afternoon capturing each of Chef Rachel's creative and beautifully crafted dishes, I was fortunate to be invited to a preview dinner and experience it from the other side of the camera.

Wow!

Everything we ordered was outrageously creative, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The drink options were inviting, the service was impeccable, and the ambience was everything you'd hope for…warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed.

One of my favorite parts of the evening was looking around the room and seeing so many familiar faces. It was wonderful celebrating with friends and neighbors while getting a first look at what awaits when Vesper officially opens on July 15.

Congratulations to Dave, Rachel, and the entire Vesper team! It's been inspiring to watch Dave's long-held vision come to life, and to see Chef Rachel bring that vision to the table with her extraordinary talent and creativity. Together, with a lot of behind-the-scenes friends, you've created more than a restaurant, you've created an experience. Wishing you tremendous success as you open doors to the community. 💝

For 250 years, families have been building America's story.
Now it's time to preserve yours.💝

One of the greatest privileges of my career has been documenting the stories that continue to unfold.
Businesses grow and evolve.
Seniors step confidently into their future.
Children grow. Families grow right alongside them.
Young couples become parents.
Grandparents welcome new generations.
Life changes…often more quickly than we realize (or more than we'd like). 😊

As America celebrates 250 years of history, Pam Long Photography wants to celebrate the people who continue to write that story every day.
Your business.
Your family.
Your milestones.
Your legacy.

I'm so excited to introduce our America 250 Legacy Celebration.

Throughout the month of July, the first 20 portrait reservations will receive a complementary $250 Legacy credit to enjoy toward your portrait order.

Whether you're planning family portraits, celebrating a high school senior, creating personal branding images, participating in our Forty Over 40 Experience, or documenting another meaningful chapter of life, we'd be honored to help tell your story.

Reserve your portrait experience by July 31, and we’ll create your session anytime through December 2026. 💝
