What is the hardest part of parenting? Is it the lack of sleep you get with babies? Is it potty training? Is it sitting in the passenger seat while you kid learns to drive? Is it teaching them about healthy relationships? Is it watching them making their own choices and going through heartache?

I know there is so much more. It is all a struggle, but it is all so worth it. I struggle knowing when to step in and when to let it go, but I'm here for it.

Among all the struggles, there is so much good and I'm so grateful to be a parent and have a family. This is just one reason I love to document your family so much. I understand the beauty of it. I know how much you love your people.

Let's start thinking about spring photos. Seniors, families, expecting mothers, outdoor newborn session... Just picture the wildflowers in the mountains and the sun peaking through the trees. Since I pretty much decided I didn't have time for social media last year, I have so many photos to share. This is last year's spring formal photos. I find it a privilege every time I get to capture this group of kids. They are such good sports when I have some crazy ideas to try. Can't believe it's almost been another year. Here comes spring!

We successfully pulled off this surprise proposal! These two amazing humans were so sweet and excited. I was super flattered that they wanted to come to Ellensburg for this special occasion and have me take their photos. Luckily, it wasn't unlike them to head out of town for the weekend and explore an area.

I really appreciated their patience when the plans slightly changed last minute with an unexpected closed gate. Never seen that before. Way to just roll with it. Definitely makes for a great story. Congrats you two!!

Babies go through so many changes in the first year it is amazing. However, there is nothing like the first few days. They are so tiny and sleepy. Capture photos when your baby is so fresh and new to the world. You’ll be grateful you did.

Besides, having photos taken in the hospital, it is pretty chill. First of all, you are already at the hospital and I come to you. There isn't any packing or traveling to get to a photo destination. You don't have to feel the pressure to clean your home. You get to recover and rest while I photograph the moments. Pretty simple, right?

“How do you handle newborn photos when baby is sad?” That’s a super great question and a legitimate concern.
/
First, I start with parent and photographer prep. I will do my best to communicate with you about how to prepare your baby for photos. I have a short list of things I suggest you do before I come to your house. Some of those things are to make sure your baby is fed, has a clean diaper, and make sure baby is warm and comfortable.
/
Next, if baby is just really sad, we take a break from me posing you and I encourage parents to soothe the baby and do what they do best. The beautiful thing is I can still capture photos during these precious moments . Sometimes we don’t even know babies having a sad moment, because I’m being strategic with the angle I’m facing for tour photo. To create a beautiful newborn photo we do not always have to have the baby’s face in it.

You just trust me and we’ll get beautiful images of your family whether baby might be have some sad moments or sleep the entire session away.

This girl is so fun! We love her to the moon and back. I still picture her as my little spunky girl, wearing every pattern possible, all at once. She had the cutest toddler voice ever. I’m so glad we have video of that. I don’t ever want to forget what my kids sounded like. Anyway, just want to share this beauty and how thankful I am to have her as my daughter.

I’m loving fall, but am kind of super excited for spring photos! It’s sad all the blossoms and colors are leaving. There is a beauty in this simple winter landscape, but there is something that gets me feeling so thankful to see flowers blossoming from the ground and the color that is added back to backdrop.

I do love taking photographs at your home. Maybe we should plan an in-home session this winter. 🙌

These kids are growing way too fast! We know that’s how it always is and there is nothing to be done about it. Just trying to teach them to love, respect, fight, serve, know when to goof-off and when to be serious, know who God is and their Savior, Jesus Christ. Also, teaching how to clean, cook, bake, budget, confidence, persistence, truth from falsehood, and all the things. Love them.

I’m so excited to be taking fall mini sessions this year! (Link in my bio) They are quick and easy, you’re in and then out in a flash, but don’t worry, you won’t feel rushed. We still play some games to make it easier for the kids, plus get natural poses. You’ll have a perfect photo for your Christmas cards. What could be better than that?! (Well…maybe a full session could be better, but I totally understand if that’s not for you 😉.)
