‼️IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT‼️
I want to share an important change I am making at Rare Glimpse Photography—one that comes from both my responsibility as a photographer and my personal experience working with children before I started my photography business.
Before photography became my profession, I worked with children in a preschool setting. That experience taught me something I have carried with me ever since: children deserve to be protected, respected, and treated with dignity—not only in person, but also in the digital world.
Because of that, I have always placed a high value on the privacy of the families and clients I photograph.
My past clients know this very well. Even when my photography contract states that I retain the full rights to the images I create, I still personally ask parents or guardians if they are comfortable with me sharing their child’s photograph publicly. If they say no, I respect that—no questions asked.
But today, I am taking that protection one step further.
Effective immediately, Rare Glimpse Photography will no longer publicly post photographs of anyone under the age of 18.
Over the coming days, I will also be removing previously posted images of minors from my social media pages and website.
This does NOT mean I am no longer photographing children.
Family sessions.
School photos.
Sports.
Seniors.
Events.
Milestones and celebrations.
None of that is changing.
What is changing is what I am willing to make publicly available on the internet.
With the advancement of AI technology, an innocent photograph can potentially be downloaded, manipulated, and used in ways that a child or their family never consented to. Recent legal developments surrounding AI-generated sexual images depicting minors have only reinforced for me how important it is to be intentional about what images of children I place online.
I may not be able to control what happens to every photograph once it is on the internet.
But I can control what I choose to put there in the first place.
And for me, that choice is simple.
The children and families who trust me with their memories deserve more than beautiful photographs. They deserve to know that I am thinking about their privacy and safety, too.
Their photographs will continue to be delivered privately to their families, just as they always have been.
I believe photographs are precious. They document childhood, family, accomplishments, personalities, and moments that can never be recreated.
But I also believe that a child’s privacy is more important than my social media content.
I would rather have fewer photographs to post and know that I made the safer choice for the children entrusted to me.
Children’s photographs should belong in the hands of the children and families they represent—not become raw material for someone else’s AI.
Thank you to every family who has trusted Rare Glimpse Photography to document your most meaningful moments. Your trust means more to me than any post, like, share, or piece of content ever could.
I will continue to capture the memories.
I will continue to tell your stories.
I will simply be more intentional about where those photographs live.
Your memory maker,
-Camille Duus
