An independent cybersecurity firm just tested DJI drone systems at the hardware, software, RF, and supply chain levels.
- PCB teardowns.
- Full-spectrum RF scanning.
- Jailbreak attempts.
- Replay attacks.
- Injection testing.
- Supply chain verification.
- Network traffic analysis across standard and Local Data Mode operation.

OnDefend tested the DJI Air 3S and Matrice 4E against the kinds of concerns most often raised in national security conversations around DJI. What they found directly challenges many of the claims used to justify restricting DJI from the U.S. market.

But here’s the part most people won’t talk about:
Even if the technical evidence is clear, it may not be enough on its own.

The FCC’s Covered List framework is still active. Equipment authorization restrictions still apply. Policy decisions do not automatically change just because new technical evidence is available.

So the real question facing drone program leaders is no longer only about security.
