Everyone talks about what they didn’t like about pregnancy…

Let’s flip the script.

What did you love most about being pregnant? 🤍

Me? The baby kicks 😭

A flower does not bloom overnight.

It spends seasons beneath the soil.. the growing roots, weathering storms, reaching for sunlight, and becoming something new.

Motherhood is much the same.

There are days we feel buried in the ordinary moments: the endless laundry, the sleepless nights, the tiny hands always needing us. We wonder if we are growing at all.

But beneath the surface, something beautiful is happening.

We are becoming.
We are nurturing.
We are creating a place where little hearts can grow strong.

A mother is not just the person who watches the flowers bloom… she is the soil that helps them grow.

And one day, when they reach toward the sun, we’ll realize we were blooming right alongside them all along.

I wish more women invested in birth photography.

Not because it’s trendy.
Not because it’s for social media.

Because one day the details will fade. The sound of that first cry, the way your partner looked at you, the tiny fingers wrapped around yours, the overwhelming moment you finally met your baby.

Birth photography preserves the beginning of your family’s story. The moments that deserve to be remembered just as much as the milestones that follow.

Keep planting the seeds. You may not see the growth every day, but it’s happening.

Fourteen years ago, everyone thought we were a little crazy for getting married so young. Maybe we were. But if I could go back, I’d choose you every single time.

Thank you for loving me unconditionally through every season, every change, and every version of me. Thank you for showing me what real love looks like… not just in the big moments, but in the quiet, everyday ones. You’ve shown me that love is patient, steady, safe, forgiving, and a choice we make over and over again.

You’ve given me a love that has helped heal parts of me I never thought could be healed, and for that, I’ll be forever grateful.

Happy 14th anniversary to my best friend. Here’s to the life we’ve built, the family we cherish, and all the years still ahead. I love you more than words can say. ❤️

P.S. steak for him, carbs for me 😆

There is so much more I could share.

Things I’ve carried for years that I’ve barely spoken out loud, even to people closest to me.

For a long time, I felt embarrassed to say any of it. So I didn’t.

But I’m in a different place now.

Not because it didn’t matter. But because it does.

And because I’m no longer willing to shrink my story to make other people comfortable.

Everything I’ve lived through has shaped the way I show up as a mother today.

Not from a place of perfection, but from a deep commitment to breaking cycles.

To my children, I will always choose safety, presence, and love that doesn’t have to be earned.

And to myself, I’m finally choosing honesty over silence.

xoxo, April

Can I be honest?

I almost didn’t go.

The guilt of leaving my family. The fear of traveling halfway across the world.

What’s funny is… this wasn’t the first time I’d traveled without my kids.

Back when I was a wedding photographer, I took three trips when Max was only 4–6 months old. This year, he’ll be 8.

But somewhere between then and now, I changed.

Motherhood changed me. My priorities shifted. Leaving my family suddenly felt heavier than it ever had before.

I questioned whether I should go. Whether it was worth it. Whether investing in myself was taking something away from them.

But this trip reminded me of something I’d forgotten.

Investing in yourself isn’t selfish.

Sometimes it’s exactly what you need to come home more inspired, more creative, more present, and more grateful.

Australia gave me beautiful photos, but more than that, it reminded me that it’s okay to keep growing… even after becoming a mom.

I’ll be honest… harsh sunlight has never been my comfort zone. I’m usually chasing soft light and golden sunsets. But sometimes stepping outside of what feels safe creates something unexpected.

And when the subject is a mother growing new life, it’s hard to take a bad photograph.

There is something endlessly inspiring about women. Their bodies stretch, change, sacrifice, and create. They carry entire worlds within them long before they ever hold them in their arms.

This season of waiting, growing, and becoming deserves to be remembered.

Because one day, that tiny heartbeat tucked safely beneath her own will look back and see just how incredible she was.
