This is for anyone with a gallery from a session with me that you’ve been meaning to order. It covers everything: archival matted prints, metal prints with float mounts, and my handmade framed canvases. There’s no minimum, so one small print for your trainer counts just as much as a big canvas for over the couch.

With Christmas coming up, this is the gift I’d want to get myself. Your mom, your barn friend, the person who hauls your horse to every show. They’ll actually hang a print of your horse on the wall, and most of the stuff they get this year won’t last that long.

What is a horse photographer watching for? Happy ears and four legs where they should be don't happen by accident. Safety is my top priority in every session, and it starts with reading your horse.

Ask your photographer if they carry liability insurance, and ask to see proof. Horses are big and expensive, and even the quietest one can have a bad second. If someone gets hurt during a session, insurance is what protects you. Any professional will be glad to show you theirs. It takes thirty seconds and saves you a lot of what-ifs.

Grab a feed bag, a tarp, or a cheap garland from the dollar store. That's your homework before Christmas minis. The wreath crinkles, it touches his neck, and it moves when he moves, so the first time he meets something like that shouldn't be in front of my camera. Let him sniff it, rub it along his shoulder, drape it over his withers, then lay it around his neck while he stands. Quit while he's relaxed and come back to it tomorrow.

Your barn doesn't need to be pretty. I bring the camera and the garlands; you bring the horse. Christmas minis are $195, or $175 per horse when three or more come to one location.

Ask what it costs, and ask how you can pay. My prices are on my website, so you know up front. Portrait sessions have a $500 fee, and that full $500 comes back to you as print credit because I believe everyone deserves to see their photos printed. Payment plans are available, too, so you don't have to pay it all at once.
