There is something about red that refuses to be quiet. It demands to be noticed; not because it is asking for attention, but because it has never learned how to make itself smaller.

This set began the way so many of my ideas do: with a thought that slowly became a world. A red gown, an abundance of dahlias, rich fabrics, dramatic light, and the desire to create something that felt romantic without being delicate. Beautiful, but with weight behind it.

I wanted these portraits to feel like a woman in full bloom, not waiting to be chosen, admired, or given permission to take up space. Simply existing there because the garden was always hers.

This is Red Dahlia.

And I think she has a few more stories left to tell.

Come inside.

Studio Gemini is where the practical world gets left at the door for a little while.

Costumes hang beside crowns and armor. Masks wait on shelves. Flowers, fabrics, strange little treasures, and half-formed ideas slowly become characters and stories. Then, just beyond the curtain, there is an empty set waiting for someone to step into it.

This is the part of photography I love just as much as making the final portrait; the possibility of it all.

For a few hours, you don’t have to simply admire imaginative worlds from the outside.

You get to play pretend again.

There is something incredibly satisfying about watching an idea that once existed only in your imagination become real.

Red Dahlia began with a dress, a color, and a feeling. From there came the flowers, yards of red fabric, lighting ideas, a little experimentation, and eventually a world that didn't exist before we created it.

My newest Journal entry, And Then, the World Became Real, is about that process; and what happens when all the planning is finished, someone steps into the world you've built, and suddenly the story becomes something you couldn't have planned at all.

But now I'm curious about your imagination.

If you could step into a portrait inspired by absolutely anything; a book, mythology, a historical era, a film, a character, a painting, or simply a strange idea you've carried around for years, what would you choose?
