The Benson George Moran putting in the work as it escorts the tanker Dubai Glamour through the bends of the Neches River in Southeast Texas. It is the first Tier 4 boat that was built by Washburn & Doughty Associates, utilizing Caterpillar 3516E engines for propulsion. In my opinion, Moran's Washburn & Doughty tugs are the best looking tugboats in North America!

Harbor Docking & Towing's hybrid tugboat, the Capt Robb. This is one of the first modern hybrid tugboats to hit the water on the Gulf Coast. It's a 2019 Washburn & Doughty build, with prime power supplied by (2) Caterpillar 3512E engines, and a total power rating of 6,700 horsepower. I also love that green paint. What a color choice!

The HFL Mariner waiting out the fog on the Illinois River near Hardin, IL. This pretty 6,000 horsepower towboat was built by Quality Shipyards (later Gulf Island) in 2010. It was originally an AEP boat before being acquired by Hines Furlong Line of Nashville, TN.

Canal Barge Company's MV H. Merritt "Heavy" Lane, Jr., usually called the Heavy Lane, for short. This impressive 6,000 horsepower towboat was built by Conrad Shipyard in 2020, and is the first Tier 4 compliant boat in its class to hit the water. This boat also has vibration isolated living quarters, a very unique feature for a towboat. It's seen here pushing a tow up the Illinois River near Kampsville, IL to turn Canal's Lizzie Lane Peus, a frequent task for it throughout the year.

Marquette Transportation's MV Rebecca J. Asbridge pushing a tow down the Illinois River near Grafton, IL. This is a St. Louis Shipbuilding "turtleback" towboat hailing from 1962. Over 60 years old, she now has 6,140 horsepower to boot and keeps up with the newer boats.
