Wonderful view on memory and how it can encourage gratitude! I am prepping a couple activities for my son next week about gratitude and being thankful. He is four this year so it's the first Thanksgiving where he will understand the holiday. I think my 10 month old will just enjoy the pies!

There are plenty of other reasons to digitize your old photographs and videos. Safety is the primary concern for many of my clients, especially here in tornado-loving Oklahoma. But for me I love, love, love having access to all my photos and videos in the smartphone in my pocket.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Being from a big family I also love sharing photos easily with anyone who wants it. My photos are backed up on Google drive. I can give copies of anything to anyone with no fuss at all. No need to have awkward passive/aggressive fights over who gets what photo.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I can't even image how difficult it was to hold on to cherished memories before photography. And it was decades before access was widespread and affordable enough to be available to the average American.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I have photos of my ancestors going back six generations back. I have photos of nearly every day of my children's lives. I can share photos with friends and family all over the world with the click of a button. It's a miracle that I don't ever want to take for granted.

When working with groups of photographs, remove any staples, paper clips, rubber bands or other foreign objects. These items almost always rust or decay and damage your photos. Instead, use a plain sheet of acid-free paper folded in half or a plastic bag to keep sorting piles together.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Even though I technically understand the process cameras still feel like a bit of magic. Whether the classic film kind or the digital variety, I'm so amazed and grateful for cameras. And since some genius of a person put a camera in my cell phone, I can take photos any time.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not that long ago digital cameras weren't great. If anyone in the photo was even moving slightly... blurry and useless. Low resolution size also meant even the good photos couldn't be printed out at a decent size to frame. I can even see a difference in the photos from when my son was born in October 2017 and the photos I took of him today. So the film camera had a huge edge. But somewhere between now and then digital cameras went legit. Now almost no one uses film anymore. Millions of photos are taken around the world everyday, most of them with our smartphones.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
