Coming back to Cobas, Galicia—the land of my ancestors—is a very special adventure. This time, I return as a photographer, capturing the people, traditions, and rhythms of the vendimia: the grape harvest that produces the famous Albariño wine of Rías Baixas. In some ways, I’m not just photographing this land. I’m reconnecting with it.

Manual or Auto? The answer isn't as simple as you think.
For years, photographers have debated which camera mode is "the right one." My opinion is different.
Every shooting mode has a purpose. Auto helps beginners focus on composition. Program mode offers a great balance between convenience and control. Manual gives you complete creative freedom when you need consistency.
The best photographers don't choose a mode to impress others. They choose the one that helps them capture the image they envision.
Photography isn't about proving you know every setting—it's about creating great photographs.
Which mode do you use most often: Auto, Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, or Manual? Why?

Many years ago, a blimp flew over Buenos Aires for months. I knew the photograph I wanted, but I had no idea how to make it happen.

The answer came from the most unexpected place.

Sometimes, the best photographs don't come from better equipment. They come from seeing a problem differently.

Did you notice that the buildings in Washington DC are mostly the same height? This allows to see the US Capitol from any angle in the city. Photo from this week working for a non profit at a roof top on Est NW.

Can you guess the ISO of these photos? 📷

I choose the ISO based on the available light and the image quality I want. Then I adjust the aperture and shutter speed to achieve the desired result.

Browse through the photos to see the original image first, then discover the camera settings—including ISO, aperture, and shutter speed—and learn how each photo was taken.

How many did you guess correctly?

Have you ever noticed that two photos taken just seconds apart can look completely different?

One reason may be Auto ISO.

While Auto ISO can be helpful in some situations, I prefer to choose the ISO myself. It gives me complete control over image quality, noise, and consistency, especially when photographing conferences, events, and corporate assignments where every image should match the others.

The camera is a great assistant, but it doesn't know your creative vision.

Learning when to trust the camera and when to take control is one of the biggest steps toward becoming a better photographer.

Do you normally shoot with Auto ISO or Manual ISO? I'd love to hear why.

I am an artist. A perfect example of someone with ADHD.

I was leaving the house when my wife asked, “Did you remember to bring your head with you?”

I said, “Yes!”
