🗣 Let’s talk about editing over your professional photos. 📸

This is one of the biggest photography no-no’s, and yes—it can be incredibly disrespectful to the photographer you hired.

Here’s why:

1. Please don’t FaceTune it into another dimension.
Minor personal touch-ups might seem harmless, but dramatically changing your body, face, skin, background, colors, or lighting changes the photographer’s finished work.

2. You hired us for our editing style.
A photographer’s portfolio isn’t just about posing and locations. The colors, skin tones, contrast, lighting, cropping, and overall mood are part of our work. That editing style is part of what you paid for.

3. The edit IS part of the art.
Taking the photo is only half the process. We spend hours carefully editing your gallery to create a finished image. Throwing a random filter over it is basically saying, “Thanks, but I think Valencia can finish this.” 😭

4. It misrepresents our work.
When you post an altered image and tag or credit your photographer, people assume that is how we edit. Suddenly I’m out here explaining why your skin is orange or your eyes ste glowing when I absolutely did not do that. 😂

5. It can hurt our business.
Our photos are our advertising. Potential clients see what you post and may decide whether to hire us based on those images. Heavy filters, screenshots, strange crops, or additional edits can make professional work look completely different from what we actually deliver.

6. We spent YEARS developing our style.
Professional editing takes education, practice, expensive equipment, software, calibrated monitors, and thousands upon thousands of edited images. That final look didn’t happen accidentally.

7. Screenshots destroy quality.
Download your images from your gallery instead of screenshotting them from Facebook or Instagram. Screenshots compress the image and can make a beautiful professional photograph look blurry or pixelated.

8. Cropping can completely change an image.
Sometimes we intentionally compose a photograph with negative space, symmetry, leading lines, or environmental details. An aggressive crop can remove exactly what made the composition work.

9. Your photographer would probably rather you ASK.
Want something warmer? Black and white? A blemish removed? Something distracting taken out? Ask us first. Most photographers would rather hear from you than discover their photograph underneath three Instagram filters and a preset called Golden Goddess #7. 😂

Bottom line:
You chose your photographer because you loved their work. Trust them to deliver the work you hired them for.

It’s the details that matter most💕

I’d be lying if I told you I wasn’t a little scared to shoot my FIRST wedding. Originally, solo. But thankfully I reached out and had an old friend reach out saying she’d be willing to be my second shooter.

I took this as a sign to run with it, the ideas were flooding my brain and I was very detail focused.

This couple was amazing and laid back and patient with me as I experienced a hiccup with my camera overheating and not working, thankfully I had my backup.

Stay tuned the rest are in the works!
