📍 Bayfield, WI

This is your reminder that you don’t need a plane ticket to feel far away. Bayfield has that little oceanside town feeling because of the vastness of Lake Superior, but it’s tucked right here in northern Wisconsin.

We stayed at the Mill House by Seagull Bay Properties and our car stayed untouched for the entire weekend because pretty much everything in town is just a 2–5 minute walk away. Here are a few of our favorite stops from the weekend:

🍸 Bates Art Bar 
We got dressed up and walked over for cocktails and appetizers. It’s open late so it’s a fun spot to spend an evening in town!

🔥 Bayfield Sauna
A day pass at the Bayfield Rec Center is only $11 and includes access to the wood-fired sauna. You can even cool off with a lake dip between sauna sessions since the beach is right there.

🎨 Penny Print Studio 
The perfect place to pick up some local merch. Everything is hand-printed by the owner, and her designs are so beautiful and uniquely Bayfield.

🍕 Honest Dog Books
Literally kitty-corner from the Mill House, this is such a fun little stop with a cafe area serving pizza, local snacks, and drinks.

🍦 Sweet & Salty
The best ice cream shop in town! They have some really fun flavors made with local berries, so we had to try a few.

How to get your FREE access pass ⬇️

If you have a permanent disability (including neurological disorders like ADHD, autism, OCD, etc.), you’ll qualify for a FREE lifetime national parks pass!

Here’s the quick breakdown:
* ��Must be a US resident with a permanent disability that limits daily life (doesn’t have to be 100%)
* ��Must provide a photo ID + proof (doctor’s note or official document)

How to get it:
* ��Best option: pick it up in person at a federal recreation site
* ��Or order online (takes ~3 weeks)
* ��Or download a digital pass instantly

It’s called the Access Pass, and it’s here to make nature more accessible for everyone.

Travel plans starts long before you get on the plane.

Off the shores of Lake Superior, 13 young dancers from Gaa-Miskwaabikaang (Red Cliff) are preparing for a very different kind of journey: a trip to Hilo, Hawaii, for an Intergenerational Cultural Exchange and All Nations Pow Wow.

Their 22-person delegation will include youth, Red Cliff Band tribal members, and knowledge holders from other Tribal communities.

In downtown Bayfield, you can find Ojibwe dancers sharing song and dance on Wednesday evenings as they gather in support for the young people and this opportunity.

There's something beautiful about young people learning the dances, songs, and traditions of their culture.

We want to share their story because this is a powerful travel experiences worth supporting!

Community solitude in nature felt like the ultimate reset. ☀️🥾🍃 I recently had the opportunity to attend a silent art retreat in an old monastery next to an enchanted forest. Each morning, I had the opportunity to walk the river and soak in the details, the light ☀️, the birds, and the quiet.

It’s not often I have the chance to truly be present deep in the forest. Part of me is always “on patrol,” listening and alert. It was wonderful to be in quiet community with a group of women who were out and about together.

What a beautiful world 🌎 we live in. Keep standing up and fighting for our environment, my friends. ♥️
