Trading and bartering has become a new trend with the economy and I’m absolutely here for it. But this is not something that is just beginning. Bartering and trading has been something we’ve done forever as a society, from vegetables from your neighbor and you give them eggs. Or fresh made bread to the lady who makes the best chicken noodle soup.

While trading may seem like something that is swapped equally, a lot of time it’s not. It’s the swap that matters though.

I have taken money off wedding packages because my client owns a hardwood flooring company and we needed a spot patched when we tore out a door.

I’ve swapped a family session with someone who cut mine, and all three of the girls hair.

I’ve swapped elderberry syrup for local raw honey.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to trading you just need someone who is also willing and needs photography but either can’t afford it, or doesn’t want to spend the money or trading just makes sense because we’ve been doing it for centuries.

Things I would continue to trade for; chickens (not roosters), hair cuts, nails + pedicures, fitness plans / nutrition/macros plans, raw honey, any meat (deer, pig, cow, chickens), bulk produce come summer, not limited to these but this is all I can think of right now (😂).

Because the world needs more trading and we need to normalize community again.

Hiiiii! I'm Nina! I'm the face you're going to see at your session(s) and the person behind Blue Stone Photography.

I am the owner, photographer, social media manager, accountant, content creator, etc. etc. etc. All that to say, I am a one woman show. While I do have some systems in place to help make my life a little easier, 99% of my business is done by me.

I also am a wife, have 3 tiny humans (all girls) who are officially old enough to be in sports and things, I spend a lot of nights at church, and Sunday mornings are off limits for sessions. I AM BUSY! We also homeschool, and I still try to prioritize working out (which has been better lately!).

I am not making excuses, I am being transparent. I have a lot of stuff going on in my life and this business is just a part of it. Also, 99% of my backend business things get completed once the girls are in bed ... So all contracts, invoices, a lot of emails + even phone consults (if possible) are scheduled at night. I can make time during the day if we schedule it ahead of time.

All that to say, thank you for being here. Thank you for supporting my business and my family. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to stay home with my girls and school them and being flexible with my "office hours".

My body doesn’t bend like that. Also NO! I can adjust.

I just don’t feel confident … Giiiirl! That’s what the session is for. I promise you will leave feeling 100x more confident then when you walked in. 🙌🏻

I offer three different self love sessions for your desired budget, what you want as far as product and/or if you need/want hair and make up included. 90% of my clients choose the quickie or full which does not include hair and make up … most of my quickie clients also usually upgrade to buy an album(not needed but the option is there). I also have a high returning rate because once you do it, you fall in love with it.

Alyssa runs a mom group called out of Royal Oak. She makes sure moms have community because community is missing in our society today, especially for moms. She does different events like moms night out, bonfire nights, walks, and meet ups. If you're in the area give her group a follow!

When I saw that she was able to snag a spot this year for my motherhood minis I was so excited. She does SO much for SO many people and having the chance for her to do something for her, and love on her and capture her and her kiddos, was special.

Alyssa, thank you for all you do for moms in your community. + thank you for trusting me with your group to offer this event every year for your mamas. 💚

Wellness Wednesday: Homemade Ice Cream Bars

Did you know that most of your ice cream you buy at the store isn’t actually ice cream? It’s a frozen dessert treat 🤢 here is a super quick and easy ice cream bar recipe we’ve been making on repeat AND I know what’s in them!

Ice Cream:
1 1/2 C of heavy whipping cream
1/3 C maple syrup
1/2 C creamy PB (I’ve also done strawberry jam)
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
Pinch of salt

-mix until well combined - if you use a blender the whipping cream will start to thicken, it’s not a big deal but placing in the molds can get tricky.

- place into molds then pop in the freezer.
-pop out of your molds once frozen

- melt chocolate chips with some coconut oil in a double broiler on your stove or microwave until fully melted then put in a small mason jar, mine is 8oz, to dip. Place on parchment paper and put back in the freezer to solidify

But actually, I would love to do a newborn session here. If anyone wants to do a lifestyle newborn session but also do a couple wrapped poses in the greenhouse. Message me :)
