I sure will. Because I’ve been there. I’ve felt it. I’ve looked at the photos on my walls and thought, “why did he have to be so grumpy?” Or “I wish I had just hired a wedding coordinator…” instead of hating those photos because they remind me of how hard I tried to do it all. It was beautiful, but I wasn’t there at all. Not really. Our wedding day flew by.

It was that particular experience that made me rethink everything. Then becoming a mother just magnified it. The need to serve beyond what’s expected.

Noticing the attention to detail when someone asks your favorite feature on your body… immediately followed by your least favorite.
Seeing someone delight in your babies. Taking note of what you love most about them right now. In this season.
Consciously recognizing and acknowledging the presence of dad at the session. How grateful we are he is there.

Building your confidence and trust every step of the way.

Peace of mind knowing it’s the best it could possibly be.

So even when something is still a little off, all the good overshadows anything that wasn’t quite what you hoped. And an encouraging voice to reassure you, it really will turn out beautifully.

Something a little more traditional… while it’s not the priority of every session, I make it happen anyway.

Someone, somewhere will appreciate it. Be it the homeschool mom who hasn’t had a proper portrait for each of her children in years, or a grandmama desperate for a good picture of your whole family to hang proudly on her wall.

Every quick “formal” photo is worth it. I promise, I’ll make it quick too. For everyone. Then we will have our fun!

What’s always exciting for me is truly playing up that best-of-both-worlds approach to family photographs. A little something that makes everyone happy. Not just candid, not just posed, but a beautiful happy medium.

Crazy wild twinzies magic on the beach in summer time 🤍 I love how many twin families I’ve had the privilege of photographing.

I’d love for this trend to continue.

Fun fact, twins, especially identical twins, are usually the only time I encourage a full matching ensemble for anyone in the family. (Unless they don’t like to match of course.) It’s just so fun to see how alike and different they truly are. You can pick out their differences in personality in the sweetest way.

Picking out who was the most confident during the session vs shy, or who had the biggest grin, whose relationship was stronger with mom or with dad.

Beautiful really…

In lieu of the stormy weather we had recently here is a favorite landscape…

Every session I gift clients a small collection of their own landscape and still life photographs taken in the moments leading up to and after their session. I show up early or stick around for a bit to document the day, then landscape and surroundings as they were. Each final photograph offering a complimentary piece to a complete gallery of art on a wall.

After a client has chosen their favorites I take time to select a few of my own. I then begin offering my selections to others as Fine Art prints and famed pieces for homes or rentals.

These photographs are best presented in light and bright spaces, coastal homes that feel like a breath of fresh air. Coastal chic with ivory canvas couch cushions and flax linen curtains where the art slips seamlessly into the space.

In contrast, spaces that allow the art to take center stage can also be a great fit. Think deep rich wood tones and emerald greens with a bright crisp serene landscape dappled with soft greens and blues that subtly tie the space together.

🇺🇸Happy Memorial Day 🇺🇸
May we never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

A little flashback from a senior session at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. Considering the lack of and spotty light in the whole museum, I’m still quite proud of these even years later.

May God bless our nation and protect our men and women in uniform! It’s crazy to think we are headed into the celebration of 250 years for the United States of America. It’s the sacrifice of our troops and their families that have made this time possible. Along with the favor and grace of God. Have mercy on us still, Father. 🤍

These patriotic holidays have hit extra hard these last few years since my grandfather died, and while he didn’t die in combat, I’ve gained a much deeper understanding of loss than I ever had before loosing him. His brother did die in the line of duty. Our favorite thought since my Poppy passed what that he was finally with his brother again. That his face was the first one he may have seen welcome him into the gates of heaven. What a joyful reunion that must have been!

The gift we all can put our hope in, that all those we’ve lost will be seen again. Hallelujah!

I have a love for intentional black and whites that I honestly have a hard time reigning in.

A few of the criteria I have for what makes the cut when I’m selecting them are:
1) Must have strong emotion - be it joy or peace - I’ve got to almost experience it myself.
2) It’s almost never a wide frame. There are the rare few, but emotion isn’t as clear when the camera is pulled back.
3) A “messy” photograph that I just can’t not include. This will typically be one that’s clearly out of focus due to movement. I do not create these particular photographs intentionally, but when they happen naturally I find them magnetic because it wasn’t manufactured.

Of course I adore a solid solo portrait in B&W, usually those are more visually stoic. Those probably happen the most with senior portrait sessions.

I remember this session like it was yesterday and I absolutely adored this mama. What’s wild is that she looks almost IDENTICAL to our littles pediatrician and I still can’t get over it.
