I did an Outward Bound dog-sledding program one spring break during college in the boundary waters and finished my undergrad at University of Minnesota, so I have a special love for the state & my buddies who live there. This Substack is great to keep up on photojournalism. 🛶

Definitely no experience or art background needed. Just be able to cut & glue. 🙈Sharing mine below that I made last session. 2 hours wooshed by while working on this before realizing it was done! Scariest part was committing to the glue stage & having my 📷 picture taken 😊 but that’s part of the experience: pushing past the scary cause there’s 2 hrs to get it done and it 🫰by ❤️✂️.

Last month worked on an assignment to photograph at multiple locations for an organization that raises funds and provides grants to help religious congregations care for their aging members. Enjoyed meeting all the residents and staff at these three locations - Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity in Adelphi, MD, the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters in Reading, PA, and the Oblate Sisters of Providence in Baltimore, MD.

Images shared here are just from the 120mm film I shot at each location - majority shot on digital but was great to capture a roll at each home with my ol' trusty Hasselblad 500elm that has a motor so loud it keeps people's attention and scares birds away, plus I probably look pretty funny curled down while staring into this boxy shaped camera, but I've always loved its square image and the discipline of only having 12 shots per roll. Thanks to Full Circle Fine Art Services for handling the processing and scans. Yes, there are still labs that develop film, so get out there and shoot some film ❤️

Excited for my first “double billing” as Photographer & Contributing Writer for the Star Democrat’s May/June 2026 “Shore Magazine” article about the Master Gardeners program here on the Eastern Shore of MD titled “Seeds of Change”. Thank you to Hannah Combs, the Editor, for assigning me this story and culling my words & images! And cheers to all the people that took the time to explain their passion for plants, the environment, & their love of community to me 🌱😊✍️📷 That degree from University of Minnesota’s School of Journalism, with my Photojournalism focus, is still my beacon & propels me.🎓
