TAKE 2/PART 13/THE FINAL GOODBYE
Daisy turned, and behind her stood Gatsby. He slowly brushed his hand over a section of her hair and locked eyes with her. Gatsby spoke.
“Please go home, Daisy. This is not where you belong. I know you feel you belong here, together, but I am gone. I know you love me, but my desire was never for that love to haunt you.”
With those words, he leaned in to kiss her on the forehead. Daisy bowed her head and closed her eyes as a tear fell down her cheek. When she reopened them, Gatsby was gone.
Daisy sat on the nearby stairs directly next to the front door for one last breath inside the place she hoped to never leave, and knew she should never return to. And she said goodbye.

PART 12/TAKE 2
As Daisy spent her last moments in Gatsby’s mansion, she passed through the dining room and stopped at the fireplace. There she decided to say a prayer. She asked for forgiveness. Forgiveness for loving Gatsby, but never choosing him. Forgiveness for settling in comfort instead of believing in the power of change. Forgiveness for not following her heart those many years ago. Forgiveness for spending her entire life in regret. As she closed her eyes and prayed, she felt a familiar touch on her shoulder.

PART 11/TAKE 2
Daisy dragged herself out of the tub and down the hallway. She knew she had to go home, but the past twelve hours in Gatsby’s mansion already felt more home to her than the place she had spent the last thirty years.
As she slowly walked down the hallway she realized everything about the mansion felt completely different than it did yesterday. Her body seemed to be the piece that the vast open space had been missing. Each step she took in the house became part of her. It was as though her soul had been empty and searching all along for freedom and peace, and the mansion filled that void. To be continued…

TAKE 2/IMAGE 10
Daisy awoke in the bath tub, with no recollection of how she ended up there. Her last memory in Gatsby’s claw foot tub was from twenty-five years earlier, when she relaxed in it after a sail out on the bay with him. It was the most beautiful day of her life. The breeze caressing her face and blowing through her hair. The sun casting a glow on her skin. The way their eyes met each other over and over across the mist of the sea.
Daisy wondered if during her restless night she slept-walk to the bathroom, but her memory failed her. All she could remember was the sun rise emerging from the nearby window and it arousing her with its heat.

PART 9/TAKE 2
Daisy spent that night on the floor of Gatsby’s mansion. Her night was filled with dreams of their time together, the forbidden kisses they shared to the rides on his boat exchanging secret glances. The glances and smiles exchanged when she’d visit him and he’d answer the door. In one dream, Gatsby came to her. She heard a rustling of the front lock, and was startled awake. She dragged her restless body to the front window to identify the intruder. As she glanced out the window, she saw Gatsby in his blue suit and hat, so she immediately called out his name. He heard her call, and neared her as he always had, glowing and blissful. Gatsby reached out to her outside from the porch and touched her hand through the window. Daisy gasped as tears welled up in her eyes and she awoke realizing it was just one of her dreams.

PART 5/TAKE 2
When Daisy pushed the door open to the house that she inherited, yet had not seen in over twenty-five years, her heart immediately sank into her chest. Every piece of furniture that adorned the mansion was gone. The walls were vacant of the ostentatious artwork. The paint was peeling to expose the rotting walls beneath. Spiderwebs decorated the corners of doorways. Only a few remnants were left of the mansion she remembered so clearly. A random hat in the closet that Gatsby wore. A candlestick on the mantle that Gatsby lit for her one evening as they conversed. A small pile of books they read next to each other on a rainy Summer morning. A grand chandelier hanging in the breakfast nook where they shared afternoon tea.

PART 4/TAKE 2
The following morning Daisy removed the chain from her neck, and placed it in the clutch Tom had given her for their anniversary, and drove to the mansion the key belonged to. Her body shaking from anticipation. Her heart beating out of her chest; her soul equally feeling fear and relief. The drive was a short one, but it felt like hours until she finally rode up that desolate, overgrown driveway to Gatsby’s mansion.
Daisy barely recognized the property. The last time she witnessed it, the grounds were bursting with cars and people, all reveling in one of the extravagant parties that transpired there. Now she was alone, and not a sound could be heard except for a woodpecker in the distance.
Daisy stood at the front step, trying to hold back her tears, unknowing of what would reside beyond the front door only a few feet inside. She made a wish that it would give her peace, removed the key from her purse, and slowly turned it in the door.
