A new thematic fusion of a Lady Slipper orchid with a Pietersite mineral...., resulted in this image named "Spirit Lady of the Valley." The surreal landscape along with the Earth-map/terrain-like cloud formations resulted from the mineral blending. The mineral also provided the surreal colors/textures for the orchid's transformation.

I recently developed a description of my new theme series called “Thematic Fusion”: Ongoing work with “Imaginary Realms” and “Manifestations of Surreality” as well as the continual photographic experiences with both the natural and built environment result in a categorical mix of photographic imagery. A natural progression is the “Thematic Fusion” of these genres that have been part of one’s repertoire. The macro work with minerals, landscapes/seascapes, architecture, and astrophotography comprise a diverse range of resource material. Through the process of association, one can discover unique combinations of multiple images from these various genres. Using post-processing strategies for considering possibilities, the creative process involving the exploratory blending of these multiple images may sometimes result in astounding juxtapositions. The aspiration is to traverse beyond the direct representation of the physical world, exploring concepts, messages, emotions, states of mind, and allowing the imagination to fly. This photo is named “Aspiring Transitions.”

The images along with musical accompaniment offer a journey, serving to evoke the imagination and to offer inspiration with potential insights.

I was attracted by the moon w/ halo above my house on Thursday night...., while hanging out with the dogs for their frequent excursions. Spontaneous photo opportunities are always nice..., & I hand-held my cell phone camera on my tripod for stability. Composing the house allows for a potentially compelling dialogue between the house & the spherical phenomenon above.

After attending an all-day AIA CT architectural conference last Thursday followed by partaking in dinner at home, I noticed an enticing sky outside. Realizing that this view would be short-lived, I managed to take a pano photo with my camera phone from our deck.... As much as I love my Canon camera & lenses for my "serious" photography, I am grateful for the evolving technology of today's cell phone cameras....!
