I did not know I needed to book so early. Maternity sessions are best between 28 and 34 weeks. Newborn sessions are best in the first two weeks.

I get asked sometimes why I work so slowly during newborn sessions.

The honest answer is because the baby tells me when we can move.

Newborns are not props. They are real tiny people who have just arrived in a very big world. When I slow down and follow their lead, they settle. They curl. They give me the images that take your breath away.

Rushing never works. Patience always does.

This is the philosophy behind every session I photograph, and it is why my clients leave feeling good about the whole experience.

The window for a sleepy, curled newborn session is smaller than most mamas realize.

Days 5 to 14. That is it.

After two weeks, babies become more alert, harder to settle, and those precious curled poses become nearly impossible to achieve. The images you see in my gallery, the deep sleep, the tiny tucked poses, those happen in that first window.

This is why I ask families to book during the second trimester. Not because I am being pushy. Because I want to make sure your spot is locked before your baby arrives.
