Yes. ACTUAL experiences, ACTUAL memories, ACTUAL dresses, posing and images created with intention.
Human-created is the new luxury. Isn't that the truth? It is only going to get MORE valuable and more expensive and harder to get your hands on.
A great deal more than half of what we see on socials is AI or bot activity. Fake, AI generated garbage that isn’t real. We are losing our stories, our thoughts, our images, our ability to think critically, and our records of what is good, valuable, and true to fake, meaningless AI generated content. The digital world has become a group of generated lemmings willing to follow a single perspective off a proverbial cliff. Everything starts to look and sound the same. We are losing the beautiful things that make us feel alive.
Write the words. I would rather hear your flawed voice than a voice that sounds like what every other space is generating, in which picture emojis break up each 2-3 lines of text because our brains are apparently unable to take in complete ideas anymore. AI generated content all sounds and looks exactly the same. You are not fooling anyone. It is boring and every time you use it, you are selling your beautiful brain short. There, I said it.
I do not want to see fake photos or videos of you, I want to see you. I cannot possibly be alone in this. At the very least, your children, and those that love you more than life itself, want to see you more than a digital creation built to mimic you.
I am making a conscious decision to unfollow all pages that produce AI generated content. Friends, family, art, home, it doesn't matter. If it is AI, it isn't them anyways.
I am going to continue to write my own emails, thoughts, and stories, ignoring most of the writing suggestions that underline everything I write in red in an effort to push me into something more professional sounding.
I am going to continue to search out real beauty in the world and show you what it is really like out there. Create. Show you what is possible. What is waiting for you to discover it. Things that will take your breath away because they are real and they are so beautiful.
I am going to speak and allow my voice to shake and my armpits to sweat profusely. My god do I ever feel alive when I speak truthfully, vulnerably, afraid, and inspired. I can feel the earth shift beneath my feet. I cannot imagine getting the same feeling from entering a prompt into a computer.
I am going to keep watering my little corner of the internet with something beautiful and true. It is within my power to do so. I am going to support artists, voices, thought leaders, and truth seekers. I am going to fill my home with things made by human hands and read words written by people who have felt the great sting of life. I am going to soak up every minute of this beautiful, flawed, heart-breaking, magnificent, enraging, absolutely wonderful existence for so long as I have the opportunity to do so.
