Here is one of the most unique creatures in the world!
Meet the aye-aye - a rarely seen nocturnal lemur seen only in Madagascar. This shy lemur has very unusual physical characteristics: incisors that are continually growing (unique among primates) and a middle finger which is skeletal in appearance, and is used by them to extract insect larvae which they locate by tapping bark and listening with their large, mobile ears. They are mostly insectivores but also eat seeds & fruit.
Unfortunately, they are endangered due to habitat destruction & persecution; in some parts of Madagascar, they are deeply feared as harbingers of evil.
I definitely feel lucky to have seen this incredible lemur!
