As history recalls multidirectional signs first appeared at intersections during the Medieval period.

The multidirectional sign near the Williamsville Public Library and Museum may not be listed in the annals of history yet as it was erected back in 2016.

The sign was built to celebrate the international travelers of Route 66. Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, China, Australia, Czechoslovakia, Japan, France, Italy and Holland all have their own signs. New York, Chicago and Los Angeles are also listed. The sign was designed and built by the Sangamon Valley Woodcarvers

If you want to check out how the sign is doing you can check out the live We**am here.

A short stop today just south of Nilwood. The 13-star flag was first seen prior to 1976 and made the South Otter Township barn a landmark along Route 66.

Standing along the oldest alignment of Route 66 (Pre-1931) in a triangle of land bordered to the west by Hurricane Creek the town of Nilwood, Illinois to just to the north claims it as their own.

A 1948 Ford F-Series truck waits patiently behind a Towanda business along Route 66 for its next owner.

The 1948 Ford F-Series trucks were the first in the country to feature all new post-war designs. The brand new 1948 ford trucks were built stronger to last longer coming in sizes varying from a half ton to three tons.

Ford regarded the previews of these trucks as the most important truck meetings in company history. The series embodied three new truck engines, many engineering advancements, and the widest range of models and capacities Ford ever built.

The F-Series ended up being the most successful vehicle line in history spending the next 20 years as the nation's top-selling vehicle and 25 years as its top-selling truck. https://tinyurl.com/IowaStyledFordF

The waterpower of Elkhart stands in the distance 3.9 miles from Broadwell, Illinois as 2.7 miles of double-stacked cars wait behind Engine 7463 along Route 66.
Two additional engines at the one mile marker provided additional power to move the massive amount of freight.
Use of the double-stacked method began in 1977 as Southern Pacific Railroad and Malcom McLean designed and developed the double-stack intermodal car. https://tinyurl.com/IowaStyledBroadwell
