Volunteer pilots in Ukraine are flying their private drones (DJI, Autel, ect) in support of the Army and volunteers fighting the Russians. These drones provide critical real time information on Russian troop locations and movements. This makes the drone and the drone pilot key targets for a Russian counterattack.

This video was taken yesterday in the Ukraine by a group we have been working with. It shows a Ukrainian drone pilot launch a DJI Mavic on a mission. The video cuts to the drone returning and the pilot walks out to catch the unit in his hand. Seconds later a Russian mortar or artillery shell impacts nearby.

The Russians are using technology that allows them to locate drones in the air and identify the take off point and the location of the pilot. They can quickly plot the location and fire against the pilot.

This crew made several mistakes, The pilot flew twice from the same location. He had also not disabled key location technology on the drone or the controller. It nearly cost him his life.

The WhisperHawk crew has been in contact with several volunteer drone organizations in the Ukraine and assisted in providing technical support to assist these volunteer pilots.

We have also shipped two of our back up drones to the Ukraine as a donation to the fight against the Russians.

Slava Ukraine !

While flying a mission recently I was asked by a law enforcement official if I was a licensed drone pilot. I was able to show him my FAA Remote Pilot Certificate.

Anyone who claims to be a "FAA licensed Drone Pilot" should have a certificate with them that looks like the one below. It is plastic and is the size of a credit card.

One of the FAA requirements is that the Pilot Certificate must be easily accessible by the remote pilot.

This morning at 0822 hrs we were contacted to assist in a search in Sullivan County. The previous day searchers had been unsuccessful in finding two lost souls. At around 0915 the lead pilot was notified that the ground team had found both missing souls and they were both safely home.

WhisperHawk supports local, state, and federal organization requests for assistance. Our aircraft are all weather capable and can carry multiple payloads for maximum mission flexibility.

Are your pilot skills as good as this? This great video; shot and produced by JayByrdFilms at historic Minneapolis Bryant-Lake Bowl was filmed in one take. The Pilot controlled the small drone using First Person View (FPV) goggles. FPV goggles allow the pilot to see live video from the drone and control its' flight path using a handheld controller. A GoPro camera was mounted on the drone to capture the HD video. The background audio was added in post production and the buzzing of the drone taken out.

A great video and excellent piloting skills ! Enjoy !
