It’s a rainy day here in Durham and since I am indoors thought I’d do a walkabout in my saved photos and share a few because Spring is emerging in my yard and everywhere. It sure helps lift my spirits and bring some much added light to these dark and challenging days in our country.

While walking on the beach of Moray Firth in Findhorn, Scotland several years ago, I was intrigued by the etchings in the sand created as the tide receded. There is something magical about seeing images that are one of a kind and impermanent. They must be enjoyed in the moment. Art that triggers one's imagination, interpretation or maybe just provides a thoughtful focal point in the moment. So often what we see and how we see it brings up different emotions or thoughts. Sometimes seeing an image we can't put a label on leaves any preconceived notions behind and we can just be present. Enjoy the images and feel free to comment on what you "see" or what you "feel" looking at these etchings in the sand.

I have found that even in winter when the sun may not shine much, it's cold, dreary, overcast, and maybe even a bit rainy, it's worth getting outside to visit a garden, take a walk in the woods or your neighborhood. You might be surprised at what you find. I have enjoyed time wandering during the winter months at NC Botanical gardens or my neighborhood and thought I'd share a few images of things that caught my eye. A garden in the winter can be very beautiful in it's own unique way.
