Hospital Update β Day 12. π€
I wish I had better news to share, but last night was absolutely awful. Things took a pretty scary turn, and honestly, Iβm exhausted.
The pain became unbearable, reaching well over a 10/10, and shifted from my usual back pain to severe abdominal pain. After hours of vomiting and being sent for CT scans, MRIs, X-rays, and what felt like every test imaginable, they discovered that part of my intestines had essentially telescoped into itself. The medical term may be *intussusception*. Thankfully, things seem to have worked themselves out for now, and Iβm feeling a little better today.
Unfortunately, thatβs not the end of the story.
Neurosurgery has now raised concerns about a possible infection at the site of my original back surgery. More MRIs and testing are needed to figure out whatβs happening. If there is an infection, theyβll try treating it with antibiotics. The worst-case scenario could mean another surgery, potentially involving a spinal fusion.
I honestly donβt even have the words for how overwhelming this has become.
I went into what was supposed to be a relatively minor back surgery, expecting a recovery period. Instead, Iβm on day 12 of this hospital stay, facing complications I never imagined and a future that feels increasingly uncertain. What I thought would be a temporary setback has turned into something potentially life-changing.
Right now, Iβm taking things one day, one test, and one hurdle at a time. Iβm grateful that today is a little better than last night, and Iβm holding on to hope that we can get some answers and finally start moving in the right direction.
Thank you to everyone who has continued checking in, visiting, praying, sending messages, and reminding me that Iβm not alone in this. I may not have the energy to respond to everyone, but please know that your love means more than I can explain.
I wish I could tell you thereβs an end in sight, but right now, we just donβt know. So, for today, Iβm going to celebrate the small victories and keep fighting through the things I never expected to face. Huge thank you to Tonya Pickney-Prissel for staying with me last night though all this.
**One day at a time. One breath at a time. Still here. Still fighting.** π€
