Fresh bangs, a little trim, and an adorable new look! ✂️💕

Today’s Wigs for Kids Cut-A-Thon was a success! Thank you to everyone who came out for a haircut, donated, or stopped by to show your support. I loved having you in my chair! ❤️

I’m a photographer first and a hairstylist second—and I went to school for both. 📸✂️

Maura liked her first photos, but I wanted her to LOVE them. So off to my salon we went! A few signature curls later, we were back in the studio—and she loved her second set.

That’s why I went back to school for my cosmetology license after earning my photography degree. Helping my clients feel that good is even more satisfying than taking the photo itself.

Yes, there’s a full salon right inside my studio. And with a photography career that started in 1991, I’ve been at this long before “content creator” became a buzzword.

✂️ Come see me next Sunday 10/18/2026 for a haircut that gives back! ❤️

I’ll be taking part in the Cut-A-Thon benefiting Wigs for Kids at CTC of Lackawanna County! I’m especially excited to work alongside salon staff members I’ve never had the chance to do hair with before. It’s going to be a fun day for a wonderful cause!

And to my friends with the beautiful, super-long hair I’ve photographed over the years… have you ever thought about going shorter? Now could be the perfect time! Your donated hair can help create a wig for a child experiencing hair loss.

I know taking off that much length can feel scary, especially when you’ve had long hair forever. We can talk through some ideas and find a style you’ll feel great wearing. A bob? A lob? Let’s find a look you’ll love while doing something meaningful for someone else. ❤️

Just need a trim? Come on in! Keeping your hair as it is? Stop by, grab something from the Smash Hut food truck, enjoy the raffle baskets and Bloom Bar, and consider making a monetary donation. There are plenty of ways to support the cause!

✂️ Haircuts: $20
❤️ Hair donation haircuts: FREE
🎀 Hair donations must be at least 12 inches and cannot be color-treated, highlighted, or permed.

Have you been thinking about cutting your hair shorter? ✂️💕

I’m looking for one bob or lob model this Sunday at 2 PM.

If you’ve been thinking about making a change but haven’t quite been ready to make the cut, this might be your chance! We’ll talk about the length, look at your options, and decide together what works best for you.

Haircut and styling are complimentary. I’m looking for someone who currently has hair below the shoulders and is willing to make a noticeable change to a bob or lob.

Interested? Send me a DM or email [email protected].

And yes… if you’ve been saving bob and lob pictures but keep talking yourself out of it, I’m talking to you. 😂✂️

March 8, 2001 – 6:42 AM – Kennedy Space Center

Astronaut Paul Richards, a native of Dunmore, PA and a graduate of Dunmore High School, launched into space aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery on a mission that would last 12 days, 19 hours and 49 minutes.

I was there.

I brought five cameras, including two remote cameras set up to capture the launch. I went on my own time with my friend Bill. For some reason the newspaper had no interest in covering the launch, so I decided to go on my own time and expense.

A few weeks later, after he returned safely, the photos finally ran in the paper on a Scranton Times Focus page.

I don’t often say something is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But this truly was. One of the highlights of my 40-year photography career.

Both the DHS Lady Bucks and boys team played in the District playoffs at the arena this week. In addition to my digital equipment, I photographed each game with a Hasselblad 500 CM with a 150 f4 lens on Instax square film. Camera is from 1991 and the lens possibly from the 70s. Equipment i used when I started my business. Lots of fun. Is good to slow down. .camera

A little Rich Banick history…What was I doing when I was 18 and 19 years old? I was taking photos! I had my first sports photo published in the RIT Reporter Magazine in Oct of 1988 when I was still a computer science major. (It’s the soccer photo). I switched my major to photography in 1989.

In May, it will be 40 years since I bought my first real camera. 🫣. So I guess I have been doing this for a while…..
