Yesterday wasn’t about a destination — it was about the road.
Fred and I set out with nothing more than time, curiosity, and the perfect combo: two friends, a BMW M2, and a Canon R5. No plan. No pressure. Just movement. The kind that clears your head and opens your eyes.
The miles pulled us through Salem and up toward Detroit Lake, where we paused long enough to frame a shot at Detroit Dam — the camera clicking while the engine cooled. From there, the road climbed east over Santiam Pass, winding us through Sisters and gently depositing us in Bend.
Lunch at Bend Brewing Company gave us a moment to reset before the day pulled us north again to Smith Rock. Twenty minutes of shooting, stretching, and soaking it all in — just enough time to feel grounded before the highway called us back.
Highway 97 carried us to Shaniko Ghost Town, where time feels suspended. We wandered, photographed, and imagined stories left behind. As the sun dipped lower, we crossed into Washington for one final frame — sunset at Stonehenge, glowing quietly across the river from Biggs, Oregon.
We closed the day with a fast run down I-84, headlights chasing the last of the light. No agenda. No destination. Just two friends, good conversation, and creativity flowing freely.
Some days don’t need a plan — they just need the road.
