I played "cat and mouse," so to speak, with a hawk today. I went out to try to get some Mississippi kite pictures but found a beautiful hawk instead. He was on a phone line and appeared to be watching his prey on the ground. When he saw me trying to take my picture, he took off and went to the next pole. When I got there (in my car), he moved to the next pole and the next, until he finally flew away and I went on. In the process I got a few nice shots of him. I don't have fancy bird photography equipment, so I'm happy I was able to get a few decent shots.

These works of mine are currently in the Mixed Media Photography exhibit in the Greene Gallery of the Photographic Society of America in Oklahoma City. The gallery is located at 706 N. Broadway if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

It was a beautiful morning to fire up my convertible and go out to take pictures. I got a pretty Oklahoma scissor tail and a few common grackles that look better in the country than in the Walmart parking lot. Also saw a sad little donkey. Happy day!

I am honored to have 5 photos in this OKC show starting on June 16. Mixed media photography encompasses a variety of ways of manipulating photographs, both 2 and 3 dimensional. My process is to use one of my photos as the main subject digitally manipulate it for artistic interest.

I love to photograph birds, if they will sit still for me. Here are some Mississippi kites, a hawk on a telephone pole, a male and female cardinal, a robin and a blue jay.

Plato Pals is a literacy support outreach of First United Methodist Church-Duncan. Our first year was a success and we look forward to starting again in the fall.
