🏐 CALLING ALL FUTURE EAGLES 🏐

The Rye Cove Volleyball Program is excited to announce our 2026 Kids Volleyball Camp! This two-day camp is designed to introduce young athletes to the game of volleyball in a positive, encouraging, and fun environment while helping them build confidence and a love for the sport.

Campers will work closely with the coaching staff and players through hands-on instruction and engaging skill-based activities. Participants will learn the fundamentals of volleyball while developing teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence, creating a strong foundation for future success on the court.

Online Registration is now available! Registration deadline is July 10th.

🏀 BREAKING BARRIERS IN SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA BASKETBALL 🏀

Rye Cove has made history.

Kelly Franklin Hood has been named the head coach of the Rye Cove Eagles Boys Basketball program, becoming the “first woman to lead” a varsity boys basketball team in Far Southwest Virginia per Tim Hayes on X.com ()

Coach Hood brings more than two decades of coaching experience to the position. Over her 21-year career, she has served as an assistant coach for 5-6 years, spent approximately 14 years as a girls basketball head coach, and has also coached volleyball and track at Rye Cove.

For Hood, the opportunity isn’t about making history—it’s about continuing to invest in student-athletes.

“Obviously, this is a unique situation and it may seem dismissive, but I'm not trying to be. Coaching kids (Boys or Girls) at Rye Cove is all the same to me. I've spent 20 years pouring into our young people at RCHS and no matter if it's boys or girls they receive it the same. These young men and their parents know my heart - I care about them. I want to see them successful and always believing in themselves. I want to see them pushed and challenged because there will be growth through that. We've had practices and camp game days and they've shown me nothing but respect. They've played incredibly hard this summer.

They've already made me a proud coach. I'm excited for the challenge and grateful for the opportunity. I have no doubt these kids will give their all for me as their coach and The Cove.
It's a process to get where we want to be but I know they are bought in.”

Congratulations to Coach Kelly Franklin Hood on this historic achievement, and best of luck to the Rye Cove Eagles as they begin a new chapter under her leadership.

Morgan overcame hip surgery before the season and came back just before the district slate to lead the team in hitting. That’s no small feat in our district with its quality pitching. Behind the plate she helped keep our pitchers locked into the zone.

After a great regular season, Allison followed that up with a near perfect regional game vs Rural Retreat and a save at Grundy.

Madison took control of centerfield filling some big shoes. Her speed on the bases meant she could score at any moment.

Proud of the season Gracen put in. Played through a nagging injury from our second scrimmage and gutted the season out. She never wanted to come out of the lineup.
