Photography seems like a mundane activity, doesn’t it? The process is so easy, so common with the use of cell phones. Yet, for certain people, when the situation and circumstances are just right, taking photographs can be a transcendent experience. It might even be an activity imbued with spirituality, or at least heightened feelings. And there are some photographs that can capture a spiritual moment, or evoke a spiritual essence.

For me there is a great deal of ritual in making pictures. There is the expectation of putting myself in a space that opens me up to seeing the world in a new way. Photography is not taking photos of what is there, it's trying to show what I see.

Everyone has a story worthy of being told. When photographing, I don’t focus on myself but the subject before me. Surely, I benefit from the exchange, but it isn’t about me. Thus was my experience shooting Certified Theta Healing Practitioner, Dahlia Rondeau. One feels inspired in her presence. Dahlia has accomplished so much for one lifetime but her calling to help others is truly a gift. Holistic Healing for your well-being.

"Believing in the realm of unlimited possibilities, to have courage to reach outside the box that we often place around ourselves, is what I like to help others most with. Changing outdated systems and beliefs, and having faith restored in the hope that happiness, well-being and healing are available; this is my special interest when working with others."

During our time together we felt one with nature, wild with delight, far away from civilization. Perhaps the only medicine you need is a draught of fresh air to embrace the universe...

Magical moments where art and nature became one.

It has been such a blessing to share the gift of friendship not only my dear friend Susana Brener De Stern, but her talented daughter Jessica Stern Meyer. Watching you design, create and build a business together has been remarkable. You share mutual respect, genuine love and help one another shine. Andi Skull Bringing Hope to Austin

Passionate about creativity and instrumental for helping grow the Austin art scene, Andi Skull is highlighted in the new issue of ATX Women Magazine. Andi is the founder and creator of H.O.P.E. Outdoor Gallery ("the graffiti wall”), founder of HOPE Events - the non-profit producing the HOPE (Helping Other People Everywhere) Campaign and partner in Austin based concept Native Hostel.

After years of HOPE Outdoor Gallery encouraging creativity on Baylor Street (Graffiti Park) in the city, the park is getting moved to a permanent home across from the airport thanks to Andi. As you fly from above you'll see the building designed in the letters "HOPE". How cool is that?

For the cover Andi modeled her recycled wedding dress spray painted by a local graffiti artist in the colors of the ocean. Whether she's rocking animal patterned pants with kickass white boots or a one piece jumpsuit, she makes a hip fashion statement. We creatives love the collaborative process of being part of a team. Assisting photographer Daniel Nguyen and Andi provided such an opportunity.

While photographs reflect an “image” of a moment in time when the picture is taken, for me, the process in coming up with a concept and sharing that journey together on a shoot is my passion. Observing life moving like a river around you and the images we make become part of the collective history of the moments we experience. What a gift to share.

Creative people are smart, but they are able to maintain their sense of curiosity and ability to look at the world with fresh eyes. This describes Andi, along with her message of hope.

Hope is a tiny crack of light in the darkness, a piercing ray at the end of the tunnel. Much needed, especially in times like these...
