The Tetons don’t promise perfect weather.

Neither does a wedding day.

Sometimes it rains through the ceremony and the sun finds you later.

You don’t need the day to go exactly as planned for it to be beautiful. You just need to be there for it.

After years of photographing weddings in Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park, I’ve learned that the plan matters. Knowing when to let it go matters too.

The work is loud. The mornings are early, the inbox is full, the calendar is color-coded into oblivion. From the outside it probably looks like I’m doing too much and from the inside it sometimes does too.

But the reason is quiet. It’s this hour, on this swing, with these three and the fact that nobody had to ask permission for it. Not a boss, not a schedule, not a someday version of my life that was always five years out.

That’s the whole thing. Not the closings, not the bookings, not the launches. Those are just the scaffolding. The life is what gets built inside it and you don’t get to outsource that part to a future version of yourself who finally has time.

Three generations gathered together in Driggs, Idaho at the height of summer; wildflowers everywhere, that lush green mountain air, and the clouded Tetons rising in the distance. There’s something about bringing family together for portraits in this place that feels less like a session and more like documenting legacy.

Grandparents, parents, plus one, all in the frame, all in the this beautiful place to connect and enjoy family time.

There’s something special about documenting a family session in the Tetons when every detail is intentional—the light, the location, the hand-stitched fabric. Grand Teton National Park provided the perfect backdrop for this Wyoming family, and these mountain moments don’t need much else.

This is what a Jackson Hole, Wyoming wedding feels like when you strip away everything that doesn’t matter and focus on what does: the people, the place, and the promise.

Grand Teton National Park gave us the kind of June day you dream about, and these two filled it with the kind of love that photographs itself.

The night ended exactly how it should have… at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in downtown Jackson, celebrating with the people who traveled from everywhere to be there. Wyoming elopements done right.

📸 Let’s chat Instagram for a second…

Truth is— I only post about 1 out of every 15 sessions. Not because they aren’t worthy (they all are), but because Instagram isn’t my portfolio. It’s just a glimpse. And sometimes? Life is full and posting takes a back seat.

This one? Just felt like sharing.

Not because of an algorithm. Not because I’m “supposed to.”

Just… because I had a quiet moment today, and it brought me back to how beautiful this afternoon was.

If your entire marketing strategy lives in this app, you’re probably burning out—or chasing metrics that don’t matter.⁣ Vanity numbers like likes and shares? Fun, sure. But they don’t build a sustainable business. ⁣

So here’s my two cents:

→ Use Instagram as a tool, not a lifeline.
→ Your goal matters more than the algorithm.
→ If it’s draining you, it’s not working for you.

There’s something about early summer—the warm light stretching longer each evening, the grass turning that electric green that begs you to sink your toes in and stay awhile.

These are the kinds of evenings that turn into memories. The ones you’ll want to hold onto when the kids are taller, the days are busier, and life feels just a little faster.
