Witnessing this in Alaska’s Lake Clark National Park was absolutely unforgettable. I watched a mama bear catch a salmon from start to finish as her cubs watched from the shore. The stream was shallow enough for her to walk through, and when she found the perfect spot, she stood completely still so she wouldn’t scare the fish away. She slowly scanned the water, then in one powerful moment stood tall, slapped the water to stun the salmon. She dove in catching it with her paws and mouth. She carried it to shore, ate part of it, and left the rest for her cubs. As I walked away she started back Into the water to catch her next meal.

This was the most incredible wildlife moment I’ve ever experienced. 🐻🍣
