Phoenix Kleiboeker TVHS '27

Phoenix is easygoing, funny, and just a joy to be around... the kind of session where the laughs come easy and the photos end up feeling exactly like her. We started at a location full of flowers for a soft, light feel, then moved to the lake for a second look where a wooden cross let us bring in her faith, along with her Bible and an American flag.

Every detail was chosen to tell her story, not just mark a milestone!

Congratulations, Phoenix... I can't wait to see how your Senior year unfolds!

August looked a little like this.

I photographed the YouthBuild graduation and sat in a room full of people who worked incredibly hard to get there.

I documented a Grove 2000 workshop built around recovering from trauma, quiet, important work that deserves to be seen.

I attended Chamber events and a Soloprenuer resource group that keeps reminding me why community isn't optional in business.

I photographed a local company that won its category in the Pantagraph's Best Of contest! --> not pictured, still waiting for publication ;)

Spent a Sunday evening at church capturing a patio baptism celebration.

Beautiful Senior Sessions... (which are SOLD OUT at this time, reminder to book early)

Recored a TV interview on marketing strategy for brand photography sessions for business looking to update product, services and outdated digital marketing content!

In between all of that, my zinnias and dahlias are blooming. I've been cutting them and sharing them around our community to brighten people's day!

And yes, sent the kids back to school with our traditional First Day of School breakfast... this year I harvested fresh raspberries from the garden for the danish :)

This is what showing up actually looks like. Not just behind a camera. In the places that matter, with the people who are building something alongside you.

I'm grateful to be in this community, and to have a business that not only let's me capture it, but lets me document it too!

Airing today at 3PM on WMBD... I'll be sharing on the value of brand photography for your upcoming launches, new services and refreshing your visual content library to align with where your business is today!

And if you struggle with content creation, I'll be sharing about the marketing strategy tool I've created to help businesses with showing up through email newsletters, blogging and social outlets!!

Will you be tuning in or catching the recap?

Before you know it, October will be here.

And if you have a product launching at the end of October, a new service coming in November, holiday promotions, or even a website update on your calendar, now is a the time to look at the content you’ll need to support it!

Because the best time to photograph that content usually isn’t when you’re already in launch mode.

It’s before.

A brand session can give you the photos you need for your website, emails, social media, sales pages, and launch content, all planned around what you’re actually working toward.

So take a look at your calendar.

What’s coming up that you’ll want people to see?

If you know someone who has a launch, new service, or big project coming up and could use help planning the photography and marketing content around it, send them my way.

A little something outside my usual work is happening this week!!

On Thursday, September 3rd, I’ll be on WMBD’s Loving Living Local at 3 PM talking about personal brand photography and how intentional visuals can support your business far beyond social media.

We’ll be talking about using brand photography for product and service launches, website updates, marketing campaigns, and all the other places your business needs to show up professionally.

I’ll also be sharing a little about the brand session portal I created to help my clients think beyond “I need some new pictures” and actually plan their images around their marketing strategy.

Because brand photography isn’t just about having pretty pictures.

It’s about having the right images for what your business is doing next.

I’m excited to share more about what I do, why I do it, and how strategic photography can make marketing your business a whole lot easier.

Tune in to WMBD’s Loving Living Local at 3 PM on September 3rd! And I’ll share the segment here afterward if you miss it.

Here's what I see happen over and over.

A solo entrepreneur books a session, gets some great photos, posts them a few times, and then goes quiet because the well ran dry.

But that's not a photo problem. That's a planning problem.

One well-planned session should give you enough variety to stay consistent for a full year, not a few weeks. And when the images are actually targeted, when they speak directly to your ideal client instead of just looking polished, that's when you start attracting the people you actually want to work with.

Stay consistent, and the momentum builds. It becomes real. Noticeable.

That's not an expense. That's a content strategy with a one-time investment.

If you're ready to build that, I'd love to help. Head to the link in my bio to learn more about brand sessions.

If you're a solo entrepreneur, here's a breakdown of what a well-planned brand session should actually cover:

Hero images for your website - clean, confident portraits that immediately communicate who you are and who you serve.

In-action shots - coaching poses, on-call expressions, behind-the-scenes of how you actually work. These build credibility without you having to say a word.

Flat lays with brand props - your book, your mic, your tools of the trade. Variety without having to be in every single frame.

Content-ready portraits in both vertical and horizontal orientations, with a mix of direct eye contact and natural expressions.

Personality-forward shots - the ones where you're laughing, gesturing, fully yourself. Don't skip these. They're often the ones your audience connects with most.

Every image should have a job. Every image should be working toward something.

Stock photos on your website will never do what images of you can do. When someone sees you - in your environment, in your element - they start building trust before they've read a single word of your copy.

That's the difference between a session and a strategy.

A week into senior year, so let's talk about the photo mistakes I see most.

None of them are complicated. Most come from just not knowing what actually makes senior photos turn out great, because why would you? This is probably your first time doing this.

Waiting until October to book. The fall books up fast, and by the time "we should get this scheduled" turns into action, the good dates are gone.

Bringing seven outfit changes. Three is the number. Enough for variety, not chaos.
A drastic haircut the week before. This is not the time to try bangs. Look like you, and you'll feel like you.

Picking your outfits the morning of. Try them on ahead of time so you know you feel good in them before the camera's even out.

Small stuff. But it's the difference between a session that feels easy and one where you're scrambling.

My favorite part of this job is watching a senior stop worrying about getting it right and just show up as herself. That's when the real photos happen.

08/24/2026

I picked up my camera because I wanted to capture real things.

Real faces. Real expressions. Real moments where someone sees themselves clearly, maybe for the first time in a while.

And somewhere along the way, I realized something else:

I don’t just want to photograph the business. I want to know the person behind it.

Because when I know the founder, their story, their why, what they’ve built, and what they’re working toward, I can show up with more intention, more craft, and more care.

Whether that’s in your office or in my studio in Central Illinois, the thread is the same:

People deserve to be seen well.

That’s what I want to keep doing. Showing people what I see when I look through my lens at them. No filters, no smoothed-over version, just them.

Real. Rooted. Worth seeing.

Here's something I think about a lot: the gap between who you are and how you're showing up.

You're doing meaningful work. But if your visuals haven't kept up, that work can stay hidden from the very people you're meant to serve.

Your brand photos are one of the most practical ways to close that gap. Not just so you look polished, but so people can actually find you, and recognize you, when they do.

You weren't made to stay hidden.

"Let your light shine before others." — Matthew 5:15

If you're a solo entrepreneur ready to build a visual presence that actually reflects your work, I'd love to help. Head to the link in my bio to learn more.
