Happy Friday, friends!

Here's some more Autumn colors on the Alaskan tundra from back in September. Such a beautiful and rugged landscape. It feels vast and impenetrable in way that can be perceived as both a caution and an invitation. This was my first time visiting Alaska in the Fall in a long time, but it most certainly won't be the last!

Hope you enjoy the new images! As always, I welcome your thoughts and feedback.

Flame Forest-

A mesmerizing aerial view of an Alaskan braided glacial river, creating natural patterns that evoke the appearance of arteries, flames, and branching trees. Such an exciting place to fly and explore.

I hope that your November is off to a good start, and that you're able to enjoy this new work.

Pinnacles-

More ice for you, but this time it’s Alaskan. Some wildly sculpted icebergs floating in a lake off of the glacier’s terminus.

Had such a fun time exploring with the new Mavic 4 Pro and RC-Pro 2 controller. This controller is an incredible piece of technology, but I learned the hard way on this trip, that it doesn’t have any weather proofing. The drone handles some rain just fine, but the controller does not.

Live Wire-

An incredible display of intense autumnal yellows along an unbelievably blue river, winding and snaking through the tundra at the foot of the Alaska Range. What a fun scene to explore from the air!

Frozen Towers-

Towering icebergs stand majestically against a stormy sky, reflecting in mostly calm waters of Greenland's Disko Bay. So many unique and intriguing ice sculptures, on a grand scale.

Hope you enjoy the new work, and have a great Wednesday!

Frontier Flow-

A brief respite from the iceberg images to share a taste of something new from Alaska. Had a fantastic time exploring some off-the-beaten path landscapes in Alaska a couple of weeks ago, with some great folks. It had been a long time since I’d been to AK in the Fall, and this trip definitely reignited my love for the place. We were able to explore several braided glaciel rivers from the air, which was a blast.

Hope you enjoy the new work… and lots more to come.

If you happen to be near Louisville, KY this weekend, I’ll exhibiting at the St James Court Art Festival. My final show of the year. Stop by booth 916-917 on the corner of Third St and Hill St.

Ice Mountains-

A fantastic night on the waters of Disko Bay. Floating near the edge of Ice-fjord, where 30km’s of icebergs are bottled up, waiting to be released into open water. Monster bergs that you would swear were mountains rest here.

On this evening, we were fortunate to experience calm waters and some lovely light. We found an ice wall that we really liked and decided to park ourselves there and watch the light. It began with the most gentle velvety diffused pastels. As the sun dropped lower, it found a crack between the clouds and shown through with high contrast oranges and reds. It was really fun to watch. These images were taken roughly 20 minutes apart from each other.

Hope you enjoy the new work. Thanks also for taking the time to look and engage here!

A couple more shots from Greenland recently. I haven’t been able to find any free moments to process images, so I’ll just have to trickle a couple out here and there. Hope you enjoy them. Lots more to come, along with new work from Alaska as well.

If you happen to be near Peoria, IL this weekend, I’ll be exhibiting at the Peoria Art Fair at the Peoria Riverfront Festival Park. This will be my last show in Illinois the year.

Frontlines-

I really enjoyed exploring Greenland from both air and water. There’s so much freedom and flexibility in being able to fly around and explore nearly infinite compositions. Something about this curvy leading edge of one the massive bergs stranded near the mouth of icefjord that captured my attention, with the speckled detritus of smaller floating ice chunks in the foreground. The color combination of arctic white ice and deep turquoise waters is probably my favorite color palette in nature.

Hope you enjoy this little taste of the north. Plenty more to come from Greenland, as I haven’t even scratched the surface on processing images from this trip.

A huge thanks to all the local folks that came out to show your support at the Downtown Downers Grove Arts Festival this past weekend. The weekend was wonderful and exhausting, and I appreciate you all very much.

Arctic Postcard-

What an incredible night on the water this was. We could tell the clouds were lining up for one of those special sunsets as 11pm approached. We headed out towards a couple of bergs that I had scouted with the drone earlier that morning. As we drifted toward the icebergs on mirrored waters, the sky and water lit up with hues of pink and orange...and then, we were photo-bombed by two sailboats. I was a little annoyed at first, but pretty quickly accepted it, and made the most of was a really idyllic scene, and a sublime sunset.

I hope that you enjoy the new work!

Infinity-

Ice blends in to sky and water into ice. Reflection merge with the reflected as basic elements interlace in an arctic symphony.

I'm just back from a fantastic first trip to Greenland. This one had been a long time coming. If you've followed my work for long, you may know that ice is my favorite thing to photograph, so Greenland was definitely my happy place. I have a daunting amount of images to cull through, but I'm looking forward to it.

This weekend - I'll be at the Downtown Downers Grove Fine Art Festival. I always look forward to exhibiting at my hometown show, and can't wait to connect with local collectors and friends. We'll be set up on Main Street from 10am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

This will be my last local show in the Chicago area this year.
